    Re: XP won't install

Did you load and save the optimum defaults after flashing?
Why did you change the bios btw ,was there a problem before that with xp not loading.
Is everything recognised properly in the bios?

      Everything recognizing in the bios.
No, I just updated to F8 bios before trying to install XP; did I blow it?
Saved "optimum settings" (F7) after you suggested and save them. Didn't help. Have CD as primary boot to get it to read Windows CD.
Windows reads all setup files, says it's starting,
then shows the "a problem as been detected" screen and halts.

        Re: XP won't install

perhaps your xp disc is scratched or your dvd/cd drive laser is dying. try another dvdrom/cdrw/dvdrw to see if it will read your xp disc correctly.

          Re: XP won't install

          Thank you H-Geek.
Found a link that says it's a driver issue with the original xp. The optical dive is a brand new LG.
There is a program that can write necessary drivers to xp on your hard drive and then create an image file. This way I have a brand new install cd also.

            Re: XP won't install

            Well the problem was the original XP is not compatable with PCIe slots;
            ie, your video card.
            XP SP2 is.
I has to slipstreem SP2 into my original XP disk to create a bootable disk.
A freeware program called nLite does a great job doing this.
geekgirls has a nice tutorial here,

            Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Packs
