Long time lurker here, seeking a little bit of help from what appears to be a very knowledgable community.
Last week I made the jump from an old AMD S939 machine to a fresh intel build. The last 8 years or so have been all AMD for me so I'm pretty bad at this intel overclocking business.
First of all the board, I don't see a whole lot about this board in this forum. I picked it up because the 680i I had wouldn't work, and I needed something immediately that could be bought local. I'm not sure if this board is even capable of what I want it to do.
Currently I've brought the up to 3.7Ghz stable. 411x9, using the 2D strap bringing memory up to 822. Timings are 5-5-5-15. The ram is Gskill F2-8000CL5-2GBPQ. 2x2GB sticks. Mem voltage = 1.9, from what I've read this memory won't mind running 2.1 but there is nothing to be gained by it. I have no advanced timings set for the memory, which I imagine is the problem. You can pretty much assume anything I've not mentioned is on Auto.
I've got my Vcore at 1.325 in Bios, showing 1.33 in Everest. (This does not make sense at all, isn't it supposed to droop?). In the bios PC health it shows droop.
The CPU is a Stepping E0 if that matters. Bios is F1, doesn't look like the updates have anything important except maybe something about ITE8718 KX.
Here is some more data I've got out of CPUid about the memory:
And voltages in CPUid:
Not sure what else I can add. The Chip runs cool at this 3.7 setting. If it matters, it has a Zalman 9700 copper sitting on it with the included Zalman thermal compound. I usually run this machine at 3.6 (400x9) and idle temps sit around 32 degrees. The above CPUID pastes are actually under a slight load (WoW running). I've never seen the chip get hotter than 46 degrees even under ortho's blend.
Please let me know if any more information is needed to acquire advice, I'd like to get this thing going at 4Ghz stable.
Cheers
