    *NOTE*
    Once you have flashed and rebooted back into the BIOS choose Load Optimized defaults and save and apply. This is a required step for the flash process to complete, and for the new BIOS to be properly loaded into the chip.I understand this part

    Then reboot Back into the BIOS again before you go into windows. You will need to set your hard drive settings again in the Advanced BIOS page. What EXACTLY will need to be set in the Advanced BIOS page?

    MOST IMPORTANTLY do not try to load Windows if you are using a RAID setup without setting these disk settings again or you will corrupt your RAID Array. I know this NOW!!!

    Please do not skip the above steps and try to load windows, this is for anyone who is reading this who is using RAID, which alot of us do.

        Dumb answers: all too common

        Your question is excellent and should be posted to the How To Flashing Guide thread. The Gigabyte user manual covers creating or deleting a raid array, but doesn't deal with bios settings when you already have an existing raid setup.

        A related question is how do I keep or restore my existing bios profiles after flashing the bios, and I've loaded optimized defaults and then saved the optimized settings and exited the bios. If you could then load your saved profile it seems that you wouldn't have to set the raid configuration parameters. To be safe it appears that the best way to proceed would be to simply confirm that the bios settings for the raid setup were OK.

        I've never worked with raid setups so I won't provide a dumb answer.

            I just sent a private message to LSDMEASP, our resident Gigabyte guru and author of the Q-Flash faq. I've asked him to look at your question. Hopefully he will respond shortly.

            He only has 10,985 posts on TweakTown so he's a pretty busy fellow.

              Sorry for the late reply, my ISP has had me running in circles due to not paying the bill on time!!

              Hope your array is ok still!

              Well what you need to do can be done two ways. The easiest would be of course to just write down your settings from the integrated Peripherals BIOS pages, and the Advanced BIOS page (Hard Disk Boot Priority) and then just re-enter them after you flash and load optimized/save/apply/reboot.

              Here is how it would need to be done if you did not write down your settings, or even if you did, just to be sure. This is of course orientated towards if your array is setup on the Intel controller

              1. Flash your BIOS using Qflash (Keep DMI Data Disabled)

              2. Reboot BACK TO THE BIOS after the flash is complete

              3. Load Optimized Defaults and set your ram voltage ONLY (If needed) then save/apply/reboot (F10) BACK TO THE BIOS

              4. Once in the BIOS again set Integrated Peripherals Settings below to specified Settings and then Save/Apply/Reboot (F10) BACK TO THE BIOS Again >>

              Integrated Peripherals

              Intel SATA Controller (Yellow X38/48-P35/45/Blue Ports X58)
              SATA RAID/AHCI Mode (Intel ICH10R Southbridge) ............. RAID
              SATA Port0-3 Native Mode ................................... Enabled (or Disabled, both will work)

              5. Final Time in the BIOS (Promise ). Once in the BIOS go into Advanced BIOS page and then into the "Hard Disk Boot Priority" Section and move your RAID array by name to the top of the list using the PgUp/PgDn Keys and Save/Apply/Reboot (F10) and you can then load windows
