This seems awfully high with your cpu running at stock settings.

If you post a picture of the CoreTemp window, this will show us what the standard voltage is for your cpu.
What app do I use to get the core temp from?

If windows is installed you may need to be sure you have the correct SATA settings, not overclock settings.
The new disk is used for additional storage.

How would the SATA settings affect memory. Do you use SATA drivers??

Can you boot with only the two sticks you took out when you installed the HD?

Ahh we can't see files on your hard drive :) you will have to upload it to a media sharing service or attach it to a thread.

Edit your post, go ADVANCED and try to upload your CoreTemp image from your c:\installation folder by clicking on the ATTACHMENTS icon in the top right row, just after the SMILEY icon. Click on ADD FILES, then click on SELECT FILES.

Re: EX38-DQ6 and Corsair Dominator 1066 Ram not stable?

OK, your normal cpu core setting (VID) is 1.2125 volts.
Setting CPU Vcore = 1.35 is way too high for stock cpu settings.
If your bios has a NORMAL or AUTO setting for CPU Vcore, use one of those settings when you aren't overclocking.

I have left that CPU Vore at 1.35 because I am trying to get the PC from 4GB to 8GB.

So for 4GB RAM the setting for the CPU Voltage Control should be the same as the CPU Vcore (1.21250V).

So what should the setting be for 8GB?

Your CPU Vcore is way too high and has nothing to do with running 8GB of memory.

ps: Higher voltage helps some of the time, too much voltage can cause boot loops and/or boot problems. Higher voltage is not always better, even if the setting is within "safe" limits.

The settings are from post 5

DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.300V] (Should I set these) << Yes, set +0.3 for 2.1V or maybe 0.35 if you have that option since you are overclocking the ram

PCI-E OverVoltage Control__ [+0.1v] << Set this for stability
FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V] << Set this for stability
                            (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V] << Set to +0.2-0.3 for 2x2GB
CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.25] << Set 1.26-1.325 for now, since you are overclocking set this higher for now until you can find out what is stable for your CPU and what is not. Keep in mind, what you set here will be less in windows at idle and less then that at load (Vdrop/Vdroop)

Try setting this back to auto just in case it's causing issues
FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V] << Set auto

And then, does your MCH voltage have .05 steps, or just .1? If you have .05 steps try +0.25-0.35

Post #5 was for an overclock, Vcore should be fine for you at auto, or manually set stock value or a little above.

As for the hard disk, no you don't need any drivers but if you are using AHCI you can update to the latest Intel ones, get them here third link

You may need to test that new storage disk to see if it's 100% and not faulty, use the manufacturer testing tools from their site. If you need help finding those let us know what model this disk is and we'll get you a link.

Operating system drive should be in SATAII_0 (first Orange SATAII port), and CD/DVD drive should be in the last Intel SATAII port. That new disk can go on any other orange port, but I'd suggest the second SATAII port

And please test and let us know the outcome from what Chike asked in post #49 about the memory. I'd suggest testing those two alone, then from those two one at a time.
