  • EP45C-DS3R DDR3 vs DDR2

I've been running this board for a few months and it's been fine for the most part. I have 4 gig of DDR2 Ram, and was wondering if anyone had done this and then switched to DDR3. If so did you have any performance increase?
    Any stability issues?

    My Specs:

    EP45C-DS3R(F5)
    E8400 @3.6Ghz
    4 Gig 4x1 PC800 DDR2 Ram
    2 HD4850 VC's Crossfired
PC Power and Cooling 750W PS

Test it out, DDR3 is pretty cheap these days as you know, I just saw some Crucial for $13 Per GB yesterday, not that I advise that type of cheaper DDR3, but just saying it has gotten so cheap. I picked up a spare set of G.Skill PI's DDR3 1333Mhz 2x1GB for $35 last week just to have on hand for testing

I can help you with settings for sure if you need help once you get some DDR3

I actually hadn't realized DDR3 was that cheap. I guess I could do a test. It's either that or I could add more DDR2 to give me 6 or 8 gig.

I would check out DDR3, it is cheap for sure now!

6-8GB will maybe give you some headaches you dont need. More then 4Gb is overkill unless you edit videos for a living or something like that

You're probably right about that. Thanks for the input
