Re: New Build..Working Great...Need help with OC

You should start by loading optimized defaults and save/apply/reboot not fail safe ones

    Star there again.

Can you please give me a link to your memory or the model # if you dont have a link.

Then I would set your ram voltage to 1.64 for now, and work on these adjustments >>>

PCI Express Frequency (MHz) ........... [100]

Load Line Calibration ................. [Disabled or Enabled both are fine]
    CPU Vcore ...............................1.3-1.375
    QPI/VTT Voltage 1.150v ............1.2-1.35
    CPU PLL 1.800v ....................... 1.8-1.84

    MCH/ICH
    PCIE 1.500v ...........................1.54
    QPI PLL 1.100v ....................... 1.18-1.325
    IOH Core 1.100v ..................... 1.14-1.16
    ICH I/O 1.500v ....................... 1.5
    ICH Core 1.1v ........................ 1.14-1.16

    DRAM
    DRAM Voltage 1.500v ..............1.6-1.64

12GB may need some high QPI and or Ram voltages, so keep that in mind

Re: New Build..Working Great...Need help with OC

What Part #? I guess it dont matter, looks like all of those would be 999-24 @ 1600

I just wanted to check the voltage, and it is 1.65

Did you have any luck yet with the above? If not, please try getting 6GB going so you have somewhere to start from, then add in the rest.

Have you ran Memtest86+ on each stick at stock timings, speed and voltages (999-24 / 1600Mhz @ 1.65V)?

How's everything going offishall? Were you able to get it to post with Lsd's suggestions?

Hey guys, sorry for not getting back to you, my lil fella is pretty sick so I have been busy with that

Only thing I can get going is 3.2, anything higher and the system just will not boot.

When at 3.2 whats a good idle temp?

Re: New Build..Working Great...Need help with OC

I've been told not to worry about idle temp too much, but 100% load should be under 65-70 if possible. I try to keep mine below 60. My idle temp right now is at 41. E8500 oc'd to 3.6 GHz.

Re: New Build..Working Great...Need help with OC

I dunno what a good idle temp would be for that speed, my CPU has never seen it?

                I get around 32-36 Idle and 53-68 Load temps at 4Ghz (21x190)

What Idle temp are you seeing, and what load temp? And what program are you using to check these?

What are you using for 3.2 anyway, and what did you try that failed (Please make two sets of tables so I can see what you are using vs what you tried, thanks)

Re: New Build..Working Great...Need help with OC

Thanks again for your input. Im at work now so ill grab the settings tonight. Im seeing idle around 42 and thats with the coolermaster n520 and AS5.

Im starting to read on some other forums and such folks having probs with this board, ill try a few more settings this week, and if still no go I will take it back for an ASUS. Hate to do it, but not sure what else it could be other than something the board doesnt like with my setup.

However, I shall try some more and i will post tonight my settings that work with 3.2

Re: New Build..Working Great...Need help with OC

I think that may be a average air cooled idle temp, for stock even so I think you are good.

All boards have their quirks and issues, so you will likely find the same/different with Asus. But good luck in deciding, I can say I don't know of any Asus support forums though.

It could be your memory, 12GB of it, and just the brand. I have noticed more and more issues lately with that brand. I know you may not want to hear that, but I do have to tell you since I have noticed it

Hey guys, just checking in. I stopped trying to get the over clock to work, I presume its my ram or something so thats fine.

I have been so busy with my lil fella and his illness that I havent been able to try much, but I didnt want you all to think I didnt appreciate all your suggestions and help :)

                      Thanks all

Well it is likely either the amount or model of the ram that is the issue. Did you get a Asus or keep your Gigabyte?

Sorry to hear about your little one, hope he gets better soon!!

Post back whenever you have time, we all know Life comes before the internet for sure!!
