  • Question EP45-UD3P + Q9550 OC to 4Ghz Black Screen

    Hi everyone I have my CPU at 3.6Ghz currently and after many tests i am stable. I want to try and get 4Ghz if possible. I have read many threads of people reaching 4Ghz and running it 24/7 after tests. I am still somewhat confused on the settings and have not had any successful boots in Windows trying 4Ghz. Thanks looking forward to hearing from you guys.

      oh ok here you are again,another post
      No help here Im afraid I cant get above 3.57,probably because of the ram,also my max cpu multiplier is much lower .
      I see your at 5-5-5-15 at 1.82v
      Have you had the ram running stable at around that speed(with cpu running slower)(using the lower cpu multiplier?).
      What are your temperatures reading when u get into windows before u try prime 95?

        Ok, Try this and see if it helps you out any. I also do suggest for now you put those Ref voltages all on Auto until you get going, then you can tune them if you like.

        Have you ran memtest86+ to see if your ram is stable? You should do that before you try to pass Prime95, so you know if it is your CPU or other settings that cause it to fail, or your ram.

            Ok This is what I had in The Bios as the settings and when i got in windows i checked CPUZ and it showed 1.3 volts, but under 100% load 1.264, and prime95 failed in 30 seconds and my system froze. My temps are ok i think, 55 50 53 50 but it did fail very early so that was probably not the true temp.

            Then i tried memtest86+ and it showed unexpected interrupt Pass 31%
            So at this point im thinking the Ram is having problems but im not sure.

              Sounds to me like you for sure need some more vcore!!

              I will get back to you about all your settings tonight when I get in as I am about to head into town. Thanks for the memory link, it will help me advise you.

              Good luck with things until then

              More Vcore, or enable LLC or both and you may need the full 2.1V on your ram so you may need to set 2.1 or 2.12, check in PC Health section after you change the setting and reboot to see what you are getting for what you set

                  Well after many trys with higher vcore at 3.625 and LLC enabled still no luck. I also changed the ram to 2.12V in bios and in PC Health section ram volts were 2.096 and cpu was 3.48 at those settings. Also in windows CPUZ shows 1.328 not underload because computer will freeze when its under load.

                    Well 1.328 at idle may not be enough under load, so you may need to raise that more still. Try setting it to 1.35-1.38, you can lower it later

                    Does the above pass Memtest86+ 4-5 full passes, you need to do that to be sure if it is not a ram issue or not >>>

                    If your ram is failing, you may need 2.15-2.2. I see some reviews saying they would not do 1066 even with 2.3, so you may need 2.15-2.2 to do 950.

                      Hi LSD after much testing i got the RAM stable with 4 passes in memtest86+
                      Currently i have my
                      CPU Vcore at 1.38
                      CPU Termination 1.34
                      CPU PLL 1.59
                      Currently only Core #1 fails in Prime95 with those cpu voltages. When i go lower on the volts Core #1 and Core#2 fail. Would you advice me to go higher on those voltages or will it damage my CPU

                        I have Good News, lol At these settings im doing very well so far no errors in memtest86+ after hours of test runs. In Prime95 though in 18minutes Core#3 fails. LSD are these settings Dangerous or will it be ok to take them higher, Im not sure why it fails still but atleast it takes longer now to fail. Thanks for your help LSD!! :D

                        CPU Core Temps under load 65 58 60 58 CPU Vcore in Everest shows as 1.28V but Bios is higher.

                          Im just posting my differences to your settings.Components are a bit different of course
                          They work ok for me,Nothing is in the danger zone as far as I can determine and it has passed all tests at these settings.Well actually its done 24 hr tests at either 490 or 500fsb,more on the 500 as 3.5G was my aim.It doesnt hang or fail to reboot.

                          The above sttings are stable.
                          My memory is poor for this tho.Im not saying 2:00B multiplier is better/worse than D its just what i use.
                          Where there are 2 voltages first is for 490 fsb ,2nd for 500.
                          Memory v jump is big.

                            Thanks for sharing that information Kick, i will see if i can use some of those settings in my Bios, Also when i put the Vcore lets say to 1.375 it never uses that exact amount in the bios its always less like 1.348. Could this be why my settings dont work well? Do you recommend i go past 1.4 Vcore to be able to get probably 1.37 exactly. Thanks

                              You mean the vdroop or voltage drop?
                              All my figures ,those in the sig too are what I enter in the bios.
                              When the pc is running the voltages are measured to be lower.
                              1.39375v is around 1.367(1.37)cpu
                              2.08v measures at 2.05(ram)
                              I played around with the voltages while getting the components to run.
                              When I first had it working at 500mhz fsb,I think i had 1.40625v cpu and 2.22v ram ,1.4 mch entered in bios.
                              When I discovered I couldnt get over 507 fsb stable without 2.3 v in bios for ram I moved back down to 500mhz and started lowering voltages a bit at a time and left things on test/did memtest runs/occt runs/Prime.

                              Ive tried a load of other settings too 2.40B multiplier.2:00D 2.66D static read,cas 6 latencies ref voltages etc.(highest memory speed boot into windows=1066,cas 6 standard performance,2.66D,2.24v)PC froze up after 2-3 min.

                              No point in posting everything Ive tried.My memory seems to be limiting me.I didnt buy it for this board,bought it for GA-73pvms2.

                              Machine works well tho,and before buying anything else Id like to see a post with Q8200 running stable above 3.6G or if you get bored with your Q9550 u can pm me .
