Should I try it?

Finally got everything put together, but I have one bad stick of ram and only running with the good stick. Should I still try a little overclocking?

Well it certainly won't damage any component to overclock with just one stick but you may need to do it all over again to get your RAM stable once you can run with 2 sticks again.
