  • Ep45-ds3l mysterious single beep

    Hello..
In the first three days of my new computer, there was no beep when computer was starting..
But today, after i started it i got suprised. There was a single beep and sometime after Vista loaded, computer rebooted.
Ive checked the manual of mobo, the single beep means that "System Boots Successfully"..
Is it correct? and if so, why does it beep sometimes and sometimes not?

note : i'm using the default configuration in the bios for memory timings (5-5-5-18)

    Configuration :
    EP45-DS3L
    Q6600
    Kingston Hyperx DDR2 2X2GB
    9800 GTX+

Hi there, Well If you fully shut down your computer to its most shut down extent, ie: not hybinate or sleep, then from a hard start it should beep once meaning sucessful post. If for some reason it doesnt then, A) check your speaker connection on the MB. B)check through the settings of your MB in the BIOS C) forget about it and just be happy that your system boots.

Now if your saying that sometimes after loading into vista your system reboots still even after an initial installation and updates have been done then I would post more information. Have a look in the event log in admin tools and see what it says??

The beep is normal during startup, don't worry about that. And do you use the Vista "power off symbol" button in the start menu? Because that's sleep mode, and it shouldn't beep then because it's not really booting. After sleep my DS3L also rebooted sometimes with an old BIOS ( trying a new one, no reboots so far...).

        Re: Ep45-ds3l mysterious single beep

        Hi again..
After fresh install of Vista64, i got 3 BSODs. These happened while shutting down the computer. Especially when coming back from standby.. When i debugged memory dumps, it is written that "probably caused by memmory corruption string +c306" and in one of them "Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe string +c306". But today, after reboot there is no warning in event log or no memory dumps..
I dont know what happened exactly because i was not looking at the monitor :|

This sounds like it could be your PSU, a defective mainborrd, defective/incompatible RAM, a defective HD or most likely some bad BIOS overclocking settings. Are you overclocking?

Please list your settings in M.I.T. Use one of the templates that flies around here in every other post.

            Re: Ep45-ds3l mysterious single beep

I did memtest for a couple of hours and there was no problem..
I seached in the forum about getting BSODs after recovering from standby in Vista and found that its about bios version. Several people complained about that and they fixed the problem after flashing bios to F10 (my bios version is F7 right now).

Im not overclocking right now but when i tried, i get a strange problem that bios couldnt save the settings to cmos..
now i am back to default settings..

I'll check about kingston hyperx dual memory settings in the forum..
            Thanx for your kindly replies..
