  • GA-EP45-UD3P + q9550 + PC8500 help please

Hello please help a noob out here. I just bought a new setup and I have never done any over clocking before. I am looking to boost my processor a little bit and want to have the motherboard read the correct ram.
    So far I...
    Updated to Bios F6
Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro for processor
    G SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory (there were some bad reviews about these with this board)

    it reads it as PC2-6400

Everything is on AUTO and stock settings. I have been trying to adjust it so it can read the ram as PC8500, not PC6400. Would anyone be kind enough to give me a easy tune up settings so that I can just plug and play with it? Thanks

You have to change the memory "latch" which is the divider to change the memspeed according to your FSB. So if your FSB is still stock(333) then you set it to the 333 latch and change the divider to 3.2B. So that wil give you 333x3.2=1066 mem speed

yea I have tried that, the ram is running at the correct MHZ, I guess it's just the reading on the software with this board that shows it at 6400?

The middle window shows the SPD, i.e. the speeds programmed into the RAM for default usage, not the speed it's actually runnning at.

            +1 with Nickel020

Use CPUz and click the 2nd tab(memory) and it will show the same as ET6 which is correct.

I think this one of the issues with the gigabyte boards and some rams. Mine reads as pc2-6400 as well. It is now a big deal as the ram still runs at the stated speeds.
However, Gigabyte needs to start dealing with some of these issues with these boards.
