    Re: EP45 DS3R q6600 overclock guidlines

If you have just changed the CPU cooler and nothing else I would try the following:
    - check and double-check all the cable connections and make sure you've switched the PSU back on
    - take out the mainboard battery and leave it out for a while, preferrably overnight. Also disconnect AC power

Did everything you said and cleaned away, reapplied thermal paste and system is up and running again!

Now if only I could get it stable @ 3ghz!! I seem to be the only one in the community not cappable of getting my q6600 g0 rev. stable (in Prime95) @3ghz.
I've followed all the tips i've found, haven't done anything wild with ram timings and still prime gives a fatal error after about 8 minutes!!
Have you got any ideas? I'd be much obliged.

I guess this is your PSU, if you have a cheap PSU then it very likely is.

            Re: EP45 DS3R q6600 overclock guidlines

            Welcome back Lsdmeasap!
I randomly walked by here a few days ago and saw that many threads went completely unanswered since you took some time off. I tried to cover a little bit for you as best as I could :)
And kudos for doing this, I've only been here for a few days but the laziness of people coming here making crappy posts and expecting solutions is already starting to get on my nerves... I don't know how you do it but I admire you for it! ;)

              Re: EP45 DS3R q6600 overclock guidlines

Thanks! And Thanks for sure for helping out!

We do have a few members who help when they can, but not too many.

A full time user to offer help in anyway would be most appreciated. If you have the time, willingness, skills, and of course patience let me know.

I see patience may not be a easy thing for you, but if you do want to help out please do let me know as I can for sure use some help. This forum seems to get more and more posts for help each day!

                Re: EP45 DS3R q6600 overclock guidlines

I have some exams in the next few months but I guess I'll be around a bit but not at 100 posts a day anymore.
I intend to finish the guides and keep working on them, but I eventually will also put them on my own website (but I'll keep them up to date here as well).
That one post was pretty much my only impatient one, but a few extremely stupid people in other threads lead to that. I still wouldn't be able to do this every day, maybe somtimes in an unanswered thread or in some of the trickier ones, but answering threads every day where the poster could have found the answer by using Google is too much for me...

Well, whatever help you can provide, whenever is appreciated. Just so you know, I if no one else, does appreciate you helping

                  Good luck with your exams

Control + F1 is a hotkey. You push it on the MAIN page of the BIOS and the screen will flash, then you go into MIT Section and any hidden settings will be shown.

Ya, I would flash to F10 just for all the fixes since F8. As for F8, I checked and you are correct it is missing from F8. If you update you may or may not need to use the hotkey, I really do not think you need to use the hotkey anyway, but you may?

I would update, that BIOS looks funky I see DDR3 settings in there and they are labeled DDR3 as well? Do you see that in your BIOS, it sure should not be. >>>

I thought it was a mistake on my part in grabbing the wrong BIOS but I downloaded it again from another source and it is the same???

If you do decide to flash DO NOT USE @BIOS and please read this >>>

You should find Driving Strength Profile settings here in this section of your BIOS once you update >>>

Same for Both Channels A+B >>>

So, ya I would update for sure if it was me. Please do read the Guide, and if you are using RAID BE SURE TO Pay attention to the things mentioned about loading optimized and resetting your RAID BEFORE you load windows or you will corrupt your Array

Thanx! I was starting to wonder if i was just so incompetent that i can't even press two keys at the same time! Odd about the ddr3, I agree.
I'll let you know if I have the same.
I'll probably get round to it sometime this afternoon, I have the day off...
thanx again, I really hope this will solve my problems, i'd really bargained for a cheap, stable 3ghz system. It would be a shame if i'm stuck at 2.8
                            Speak to you soon.

So did your old BIOS say DDR3 in it?

Well, sorry for my late reply here I was not feeling well yesterday. Let me know how you are getting along with this

                                Hi,

things have been conspiring against me so so far I have only had the time to flash the bios, haven't even had the time to look inside. I hope to do so this evening...! You're bios flashing guide was very helpful though.
I'm always a bit apprehensive when it comes to these things but it all went smoothly.
Hope you're feeling better and speak to you soon
