      Re: ep45-ud3p 8gb fine tweaking...

Sigh.....just another lemming following following the pied piper of Corsair band wagoon.
OK, so the Corsair models have outstanding reviews from the sites that really matter; JonnyGuru, HardwareSecrets, PC Perspective and others who really test the hell out of them and push them to see if they still meet their 80+ rating levels at 45 - 50 degrees (C).
      • So what if the 750HX meets its 80+ Silver rating at full power at 45 (C)....yawn.
      • And it puts out 912.7 watts at the same temperature with 83% efficiency.....eh.
      • It comes oh so close to an 80+ Gold rating.....hmmm.
      • OK, so its got outstanding voltage stability and very low electrical noise and ripple.....just like all the top tier units.
      • What about the bling factor? Gotcha!
      • 7 year warranty..... ho hum.

It makes my 750 watt Antec TruePower New TP-750 feel so inadequate.
Oh, wait a minute, I bought my psu on cyber-Monday with a special 2-day-only rebate for $70.... never mind

Here is my windows experience index....I am assuming that 5.9 is the max I can get on the hard drive - for a single sata drive?

Does the avrage user care for calculations per second, and disk speed, do they sit copy files all day?
              Totaly meaningless number IMO.

they are all meaningless numbers pretty much - just curious what it would take hardware wise to increase that 5.9....probably ssd or raid

arctic-k20: When you set Performance Level 9, did you first try to set it in Memset, or did you just input it into BIOS?

When I tried Performance Level 9 in memset, it froze my machine.

On another note, tried running my RAM at 5-5-5-12, but had errors, so went back to 5-5-5-15.

If you have attempted to change tRD from zero to another value, it's a known issue and was fixed not to let you do it.
Latest MemSet vers. will not change tRD from and to zero.

Well, when I went from Performance Enhance - Standard, to Performance Enhance - Turbo, I went from not having any Perf Enh value in the field, to having 10 in the field.

Also, going from Std To Turbo, it made tRFC rise from 64 -> 68. Seems like a performance loss?

Going from 10 -> 9 in Memset, and system locked up.

Performance Enhance = Turbo is NOT recommended while you're trying different overclock setups.
tRFC settings vary with memory speed, memory voltage, and the amount of memory used.
With DDR2 memory, tRFC = 48 - 52 is often possible at 1066 speeds when using 2x2GB of memory.
With 8GB of memory, tRFC often needs to be increased to 60 - 68.
As I recall, 8GB of DDR3 memory often requires tRFC to be about 74.

When overclocking, my approach is to use:
                              Performance Enhance = Standard
                              Manually set:
                              • DRAM Voltage
                              • Primary memory timings
                              • Static tRead Value (tRD) aka Performance Level in Memset
                              • tRFC
                              • Driving Strength = 1 step higher than the memory speed (e.g. OC-1200 for 1066MHz memory speeds)

I leave the remaining Advanced Timing Control settings on AUTO until I'm ready to perform my final memory tweaks.

I always make changes in the bios.
