  • GA-p45-ud3r bios standard settings, I need help

Hi all, I just built a new computer and I feel I am not getting the best out of the new hardware. I am unsure of the bios settings on this board and I came from a asus motherboard with barely any settings, so this bios is very overwhelming. I am trying to soak up the info as best as I can, but would like just the standard/optimized performance I can get from my hardware at the moment so i can have a stable computer while I learn how to overclock.

    here is my hardware:

    motherboard: ga-p45-ud3r
    cpu: q6600 stepping B revision g0
    memory: g-skill ddr-1066 pc2-8500 2048MB x2 CL5-5-5-15 2.0~2.1V
    video card: pci-e geforce gtx 260 core 216 896MB DDR3
power supply: corsair hx620W modular power supply
hard drive: Western Digital 500 GB, 3 Gb/s, 8 MB Cache, 7200 RPM

The computer just does not feel right, kind of hard to explain. I am only getting 55FPS on world of warcraft(mmo game) and this is with newest drivers on a fresh install of vista.

Only thing I did in the bios was- turn off floppy, set sata stuff, and set dram voltage to 2.0V, thats about all I did.

so hopefully you guys can help me out or send me in the right direction.

    thanks :)

Re: GA-p45-ud3r bios standard settings, I need help

Your system overclocked or not will outlast you wanting to keep it. You will want something new long before it is ready to die.

        Is that Memtest86+ Stable? >>>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Those look like very tight Static tRead Values for the D strap, I am surprised you can boot like that

What is your Load temps, you said you are worried about temps, but only posted idle temps

Re: GA-p45-ud3r bios standard settings, I need help

Well I ran prime95 and core 4 failed within seconds. so it back to the drawing board i guess as for the memory, I did not run memtest but will change the tread to 10 and check with memtest. and would core 4 fail becuase of bad ram timings? or should I up the voltage on cpu a little more and see if that helps? and how can I check loading temps? is that under system status in bios? thanks again for the help

Na, if Prime failed withing seconds you likely need more Vcore, Vtt, or PLL

Check Load temps with CoreTemp or RealTemp, you can get them here >>>
