  • Bios checksum error

Built this system about 2 months ago: ga-ep45-udr3p, e7200, 8600gts, 2 gigs kingston ram running on XP sp3, and the MB is running the bios it shipped with. no overclock with stock cpu cooler. I was playing Crysis and the game shut down with "crysis has encountered an error and needs shut down" tried to restart the game but I got the same error message. I went to reboot. It went to a screen that says "main bios checksum error" and keeps looping thru this screen and the gigabyte "LOGO" screen. I have tried to enter bios with the del key and boot menu with f12. neither with success.
Where do I go from here? I can't trouble shoot when I can't get into the bios let alone Windows.

    Re: Bios checksum error

my self I would try and clear CMOS via the jumper on the motherboard

turn of power to the system from the wall
find the Cmos jumper on the motherboard (look in manual) and bridge the pins for few seconds

then see if you can get into the bios and load optimized defaults
and reconfig your rams timings and voltage and so on

if that fails i would remove one stick of ram leaving a stick in slot 1

    and try again
