    Re: EP45-UD3R Memory problems/4 gig PC1066

Well I would for sure be using a newer BIOS then what shipped with the board. Please DO NOT USE @BIOS to update your BIOS, Here is a Guide I wrote on using Qflash >>>

Here is the BIOS page for your board, BIOS versions are up to F5 >>>

If you want to leave most of that on Auto I would at least try these changes >>>>

    Driving Strength Profiles
Driving Strength ............................ 1066 (Set both channels)

    Channel A & B (Should match)
Static tRead Value.........................: << Set to 9-12, try 8 later

CPU Termination…............: Auto << Same comment as below (1.2-1.32 should be good at your FSB, not more then Vcore. Keep at least .1 under vcore value. I See you are using low Vcore, so if that is stable then just try setting this to stock 1.2)

CPU PLL………………….....: Auto << PLEASE SET now, Auto WAY Overvolts when you overclock. 1.45-1.6

    CPU Referen.…………........: Auto

    MCH/ICH
    MCH Core…………….....1.100V...........: 1.22v << 1.22-1.24 should be good
    MCH Reference….…….0.800V...........: [Auto]
    MCH/DRAM Ref.…......0.900V...........: [Auto]
    ICH I/O……………….....1.500V............: 1.55
    ICH Core…………...……1.100V............: 1.14-1.2

    DRAM
DRAM Voltage ……....1.800V............: Set to 2.02V << I would set 2.1 for now
    DRAM Termination .…0.900V............: [Auto]
    Channel A Reference 0.900V............: [Auto]
    Channel B Reference 0.900V............: [Auto]

    Advanced Settings
Limit CPUID Max. to 3.....................: [Disabled]
    No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Enabled] << Disable
    C2/C2E State Support....................:
    x C4/C4E State Support..................:
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) ...........: [Enabled]
    CPU EIST Function.........................: [Disabled]
    Virtualization Technology................: [Disabled]

    Integrated Peripherals
Legacy USB Storage Detect .............. [Enable] << Disable for now to rule this out as a issue

      Re: EP45-UD3R Memory problems/4 gig PC1066

I have 2x2GB of OCZ Platinum

Like Lsdmeasap said, up the Dram Voltage to at least 2.06v(where mine runs OK), if not 2.1v

Also raise the MCH to 1.24-1.28 for starters, may need little more but prob not for much for 400FSB.

Also you can try swapping the memory stick into opposite slots as it may help

      Advanced Timing Control

      tRFC........................................... 72 to start

      Command Rate (CMD) ....................: 2
      New Q9650, Gigabyte UD3P, 4GB OCZ Platinum, Asus TOP 4850, Antec TP3 550W, Vista 64 SP1/XP SP3.

        Re: EP45-UD3R Memory problems/4 gig PC1066

Still no go. I flashed the current BIOS and used all the above recommended settings. Still won't post with 2 sticks at 1066. 2 sticks working fine at 800. I'm out of ideas. Given the board and memory specs I don't think it's unreasonable to expect 2x2gigs of DDR2-1066 to post with auto settings and no tweaking at all at default CPU speed. If not then either the Gigabyte or OCZ product just ain't doing what it's advertised to do. I'm guessing it's the memory, as other posters in various places also failed to get this memory to perform at 1066 after much effort and settled on 800.

          Re: EP45-UD3R Memory problems/4 gig PC1066

OCZ OK'd an RMA on one stick because I thought I had one that wouldn't post at 1066. I was running both at 800 last night so I rebooted with each at 1066 to find the bad one and they both worked and passed a quick run of Memtest. So back to square one....each will work individually but they won't post at 1066 together. Would appreciate any further suggestions for the BIOS settings. Thanks.j

            Re: EP45-UD3R Memory problems/4 gig PC1066

I have tried to solve this problem now by experimenting with different memory straps with these results. All tests used previously recommended BIOS settings...

            1. 333 strap X 2.4 (RAM freq=960) posted fine with 2 sticks and loaded Win.
            2. 266 strap X 2.5 (RAM freq=1000) posted and loaded WIN but THERE WAS NO VIDEO. How do RAM settings affect the video?
            3. Didn't try 1066 at any strap ( would a different strapXmultiplier make any diff if the result is still 1066?) and went back to 333 X 2.4.

I am unfamiliar with the significance of the straps. Is running the RAM at 333 X 2.4 really better than running at 400 X 2? The CPU is running at 400 X 9.5. Thanks.

              Re: EP45-UD3R Memory problems/4 gig PC1066

Yes, straps make a big difference. Try running B and D

What Static tRead settings are you using, and Driving strengths as this matters much as well. tRD (Static tRead Values) should be >>>
              6/7-10 333/B MCH - 8/9-12 400/D MCH

So 445 FSB X 2.40B = 1066 << may be unstable due to the 400+ FSB with B strap, MCH Voltage would need to be found and adjusted

              401 FSB X 2.66D = 1068

533 FSB X 2.00B or 2.00D Much more stable for D, but 533 FSB you would have to already know how to run to test this

              320 FSB X 3.33D = 1066

              BEST WAY TO TEST... STOCK

              333 FSB X 3.20B = 1066
