  • P35-DS3L with Q6600, FSB problem(Overclocking)

Note: I had this OC to 3.0GHz for 4 months. But the BIOS reset my OC setting after re-install Vista 64 recently.

    P35-DS3L(rev2.0) , BIOS version F8
    Q6600(G0)
    RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (5 5 5 15, 2.0v-2.1v)

    BIOS setting:
    C1E: Disabled
    TM2: Enabled
    EIST: Disabled

    R.G.B.: Auto
    CPU Clock Ratio: 9X
    CPU Host Clock Control: Enabled
    CPU Host Frequency (Mhz): 333
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz): 100
    C.I.A.2: Disabled
    Performance Enhance: Standard
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD): 2.0
    Memory Frequency (Mhz): 667

    System Voltage Control: Manual
    DDR2 OverVoltage Control: +0.2v
    FSB OverVoltage Control: +0.1v
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control: +0.1v
    CPU Voltage Control: 1.381
    Normal CPU Vcore:1.325

Then, I hit F10 and restarted. It still shows 2.40GHz(267x9), DDR2 is at 534Mhz instead of 667 (which means CPU Host Frequency didn't change at all).
So, I tried different combinations between voltage, it didn't work. I also tried to OC to 2.8GHz only, it didn't work either. CPU Host Frequency resets
to 267 everytime I restat. Need help asap, Thank you.

          Re: P35-DS3L with Q6600, FSB problem(Overclocking)

What do your temps look like in the BIOS?

          1) Set your RAM timings to 5-5-5-18 1.8V(or whatever their defaults are) and keep the low frequency/667.
          2) Disable TM2 until you have a stable OC. Watch your temps!
          3) Set PCI Express Frequency to 100MHz
          4) Turn the FSB and MCH voltages back to their default settings. FSB +2 might be nice but I doubt you need anything.
          5) Raise the CPU voltage Control to 1.375-1.42 Start with the lower value and then go up two steps each time.

Go in the Power Management Setup menu and change the ACPI Suspend Type to S1 (POS.)

After it gets past the POST you can worry about the RAM.

It gets past the post. But CPU Host Frequency is still at 267MHz, and Memory Frequency auto drop down to 854MHz

Where are you seeing that at? How many reboots after you save/apply the settings before it boots correctly?

Do you have C1E and EIST disabled?

Have you tried re-seating your CPU? Have you tried flashing the BIOS and again loading optimized with the same or a older BIOS?
