  • EP45-UD3R Freezing Problem

Hi, all. I am building a new computer for the first time a long time. Here are the components:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
    Kingston 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual
Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KVR800D2N5K2/4G
    OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
    XFX PVT98WYDDU GeForce 9800 GTX+ XXX 512MB

The problem I am having is that every time I turn on the computer, it will run for a few minutes and then the computer will freeze. This is while running the BIOS, in the Ubuntu Live CD, and in Memtest86. The amount of time before freezing seems random, but rarely is it more than 15 minutes before a freeze happens. It is freezing with both of the sticks of memory installed, but 1 stick runs fine (either stick in any slot). I only have the DVD drive, video card installed. The CPU is running at 35 degrees. I am hoping that someone would able to help me figure out why it is freezing.

      Re: EP45-UD3R Freezing Problem

Ok, the above settings seem to be keeping the system stable MUCH longer than before in Memtest86. I am going to install Windows, put some load it that way, and then run Memtest overnight tonight and see what happens. Thank you very, very much for the help.

Ok, I wanted to give it a few days, and see how my computer was running, but I am extremely pleased to say that it has been running perfectly with the above changes. I have installed 3 OS's, run Memtest overnight, and played Crysis Warhead flawlessly. Thank you so much for the help!
