  • GIGABYTE EP45-UD3R memory issue...

    HI

Im quite new to GIGABYTE boards. I bought one cause my buddy is running one and said they were great boards. Well, ive had nothing but issues with mine. Ihave a EP45-UD3R board with a Q9450. I have been trying to run G.Skill DDR-1066 2.0-2.1v 6-6-6-18 2GBx4 (F2-8500CL6-4GBNQ). Im able to run 4 gigs and thats it. If i pop in all 8 gigs, i get a BSOD while loading up Windows. Now, i have tried all stick one at a time, all good. I have tried 4 gigs using random sticks, all good. Why is this board not allowing me to run all 8? Now, my BIOS settings are pretty much default. Is there a setting im missing?? Or is it that the board dosnt like this brand of ram? Any help would be great.

    Re: GIGABYTE EP45-UD3R memory issue...

Need more MCH core for 8GB, prob have to tweak some memory settings alos like make sure the PL(static tRead) is 9 or 10 for starters. Also make sure you have the Dram voltage at the high end of the specs
    New Q9650, Gigabyte UD3P, 4GB OCZ Platinum, Asus TOP 4850, Antec TP3 550W, Vista 64 SP1/XP SP3.

      Re: GIGABYTE EP45-UD3R memory issue...

Im not sure how high to go on the MCH so i went to 1.24, 1.2 gave me A BSOD. As for the static tread, im at 10 (both A&B) and voltage on the memory is @ 2.1. Im loaded up and on my desktop with 8 gigs. Anything else i should look at? Thanxs for the reply man, you have given me new hope!!

        Re: GIGABYTE EP45-UD3R memory issue...

Please post your settings you are using so we can better advise. As for your MCH with 8GB depending on the strap you are using and multi you may need more or less voltage. A good starting range for 8Gb would be 1.25-1.35 but it does depend on straps and multi's as well. And put performance enhance on standard, make sure trfc is set to 72-82 for now as well, trtp 4-7 >>>

                      Re: GIGABYTE EP45-UD3R memory issue...

I need to see the error on the Blue screen, not those errors. If you want to see what is on the BSOD you can disable auto restart in control panel, system, advanced system settings, advanced options tab and then startup and recovery and uncheck Automatically restart in the system failure box. Then your PC will stop at the BSOD screen and you can write down the code, should look like this >>> 0x0000008e or similar

More then likely it is either a driver that is not working right with your game, or your GFX Card is overheating... Or maybe you have some timings too tight or not enough voltages. Not sure since you did not post what exact settings you are using now.

Do you think your GFX card overheats? You can check it GPU Caps Viewer and run the Fur Render test (Bottom left corner of app) and watch the temps in the main box or see if it causes a crash >>>>

Well im sure its not the GXF card. I have a 9800 GXT with a Accelero XTREME 9800 cooler. Idle its temps are 35 and load its 42-45. Im sure thats not overheating. I did find that the audio drivers i had installed were 2.0 and the newest are 2.13, ive installed the new drivers havent had the time to play around with them yet. I have setup my PC to not reset on BSOD, so i will come back with info once, or if it happens again. Thanxs again for your time n help.

Are you sure the ram or VRM's are not overheating? Adding a aftermarket cooler may cause that as some do not cover the ram properly and the VRM's

Good luck, and hope your driver update helped

No, im quite sure. I never had issues running 8 gigs on my 790i, or with the video card. I dont crash or have issue with any random pair of 4 gigs. Played Crysis Wars and GTAIV for hours with out problem. I have multiple issues if i try to use 8 gigs and use the tweaks you gave me. I did capture one of the BSODS...

                            0x00000019 (0x000000001 FFFFF88008F34000 0x0000000000000001 0x0000000000000000)

I hope that was the info you needed.

I am talking about Graphic card ram, not system ram. Cards have three things that can overheat and not always all of them have a sensor (GPU, VGA RAM, VRM Chips)

That error is a BAD Pool Header error, can you please run the latest memtest86+ overnight while you sleep >>>
