  • Gigabyte EP45-DS4 overclock

    Hello!

    My PC:

    Gigabyte EP45-DS4
    C2D E6420
    Mushkin 2x2GB XP2-8500 "Xtreme" DDR2
    HD4850

I have got new memory (Mushkin 2x2GB XP2-8500 "Xtreme" DDR2).

I have increased DRAM Voltage in BIOS to 2.1 and CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) to 333.

When I save settings in BIOS, my computer twice shut down, then start booting into Windows Vista 64-bit. Everthing works well, but in CPU-Z is shown that I have Core Speed at 2.13 GHz and Bus speed 266 MHz (it should be 333).

Then I went back to BIOS, to see what happened. And I got a message that there where some erros during boot.

What happened, what I did wrong, what can I do.

Computer still working good, but no overclock.

    Thanks, bye.

basically, it did not like your setting and reset itself back to orginal BIOS settings, there are enough threads here about general overclock setting for EP45-DS4

Ok. Now I managed to overclock to 2.67 GHz (333 FSB) with stock cooling.
Temperature aftef 7 hours of Orthos blend test is 59.

Is anything else that I can do?

      Thanks for help, bye

Those are good temps, ya you can likely tighten up your ram timings or overclock higher if you like

          Re: Gigabyte EP45-DS4 overclock

Hi. Now I managed to overclock to 3.2 GHz (400 FSB) with stock cooling.
Temperature after 30 minutes of Orthos blend test is 66.
          For now is stable.

Is this temp save or do you recommend something else.

          Thanks.

          EDIT: Idle temps are 38-40c

Yes those temps are safe, keep in mind your CPU is ONLY that hot while you are stress testing it. It never gets anywhere close to that under normal PC Usage.

I would not worry about it until you start seeing 75+ Temps, then you are getting hot

And do keep in mind also, if you had a different (NON Stock) cooler then at those same clocks and voltages your temps would be much better

This configuration is, as far as I know, stable.
He cant overclock to 3.2 ghz as I, he get blue screen at Windows Vista log on.

Other problem is occuring only when is computer overclocked. When computer is completely turned off from electrics and when he turn it on, then computer turn on and turn off again. After 3 seconds computer normally launches.

              Thanks for helping, Ales.
