Re: Please help me overclock my E8600 with EP45-UD3P Mobo
The change in CPU multiplier in CPU-Z is a result of Intel's Speedstep which reduces the CPUs speed when not in use. It can be turned off by disabling CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) under the advanced settings.System Specs
CPU: Intel i7 870
CPU Fan: Zalman 10Flex
Motherboard: Asus P7P55-Pro
RAM: Corsair Dominator 1600 - 2X2 gb
GPU: XFX 4890 1gb
PSU: Silverstone 700W
System Drive: Intel X25-M 80gb
Storage Drive: Hitachi 1tb
Case: NZXT Khaos

It isn't very likely at all that you can do 4.5Ghz with that cooler, and for sure is not going to work with Auto everything w/ 8GB of ram
Please do post a link to your ram
Here is what I would advise for 4Ghz + >>>

Thank you very much for your post!

It boot up some how and look stable until this morning since last night, but would you recommend this setting for 24/7 use? My Antec Case's fans are set at "Med Speed" and CPU never go over 50C (Only when I use "OCCT" it went over 50C).
I want the best performance out of system but i don't want my systems to be water cooled. What is your recommend 24/7 setting? Do you think i can use that clock 4.27ghz for 24/7 with that cooler?
Thank you very much for your help again!

Re: Please help me overclock my E8600 with EP45-UD3P Mobo
So what are you doing to say its stable?
For me I like to do 8hrs of prime or OCCT or both. Some people just do 2hrs and say its good, while others do 24hrs. Basically how many hours doesnt matter, what matters is that it does pass at least 1-2hrs, then it should play all your games or Fold w/o issue. If you have random issues its not stable and I would adjust something till those issues go away. Again running a stress test for 8hrs should be plenty.New Q9650, Gigabyte UD3P, 4GB OCZ Platinum, Asus TOP 4850, Antec TP3 550W, Vista 64 SP1/XP SP3.

Re: Please help me overclock my E8600 with EP45-UD3P Mobo
Yes, stable would be passing some tests as mentioned above. Memtest86+ and Orthos is what I use. Linked here is Plenty of testing tools Post #3 >>>
Grab Memtest86+ 2.11B and run 5-10 passes then you know your ram is stable. As for your CPU you can choose from many different tools and methods all up to you
24/7 depends on your temps. What was your max temp in OCCT?

I ran OCCT for 6hours, and passed it. I guess then it's stable?
but after i passed the test, while i was playing COD5, it crashed and rebooted and lock up on post screen ....
Now it reset to F4 bios from F7a automatically!!!
So I lowered the clock to 4.0ghz (400x10) with stock voltage and it passed another 6hours of OCCT without problem...
Do you think it's better to flash the bios back F7a or should i stay with F4?
I know flashing the bios is risky, and I read all the post about make mobo to brick state...
Now i am confused if i have to flash bios or not.!!

Re: Please help me overclock my E8600 with EP45-UD3P Mobo
Hello.
I've got the same configuration except of the ram.
Here you have my config :
# CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 @ Noctua NH-U12P
# MB : Gigabyte P45-UD3P
# RAM : Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4 Go (Kit 4x 1 Go) DDR2-SDRAM PC6400 4-4-4-12 - BL2KIT12864AL804
# GC : ATI Radeon HD 4850 512Mo
# DD1 : WesternDigital Raptor 74Go 10000 Tr/min en Sata 1
# DD2 : Seagate 7200.11 500Go en SATA 2
# DD3 : Samsung 400Go en SATA 2
# DD4 : Maxtor de 250Go en SATA 2
# Dvd Reader : Asus
# Monitor : SAMSUNG LCD 22" SyncMaster 226BW
# PSU : CORSAIR HX520 Watts (CMPSU-520HX)
# Case : Antec P180
# Mouse : logitech G5 Laser
# Keyboard : logitech G15
I tried the O/C given by Lsdmeasap here- CPU Clock Drive
- PCI Express Clock Drive
- CPU Clock Skew (ps)
- MCH Clock Skew (ps)
And those options :
I come from an asus P5B, so I have too much more things to set in the UD3P :) (P5B was so simple compare of the UD3P ;))
Thanks for your help :)

Re: Please help me overclock my E8600 with EP45-UD3P Mobo
So, I set the CPU Vcore to 1.30 V ;)
I will try to run OCCT for some hours :)
edit : after 2 pass, no errors in MemTest86+
After 1h of OCCT (CPU : OCCT mode), no error.
I launched some minutes ago, the "CPU : linpack" test for 1h.
I'll tell the results after :)
edit 2 : After one hour of Linpack test, no error :)
Can I consider O/C stable ?
I will play some games now to test the GC :)
