  • Gigabyte EP35-DS3 motherboard and Intel Q9550 help.

    Hi there!
    New here... :)
I'm just wondering if there's going to be a new stable bios to my motherboard gigabyte ep35 ds3?
It's been a beta bios for a long time now.
I'm having some stability problems now with my board when i overclock my Q9550 cpu and corsair memory.

    My setup is...

    Intel core 2 quad 9550
    4GB Kingston HyperX PC9200 (4x1GB)

    Geforce GTX260 core 216 gfxcard
    2x250GB Samsung s-ata2 in raid 0
    1x samsung F1 1TB 32MB cache hdd.
    Creative SB X-Fi extreme gamer.
    Corsair 650 PSU.
    Windows Vista Home premium 64-bit

Its up and running now at 3.58ghz CPU (422x8.5)
but i have to set down my memory to around 1055mhz (SPD 2.50) to make it run ok.
Is there any way to set the memory settings free on this board?
Any other tweaks on this motherboard that is good to know about?

Memorysettings/timings in order top to bottom.

Thanx for any help i get.

        Ok...this is strange!
What do a guy from Sweden need to do to get some help around here!? :S

What should I tune to get my PC to run better and more stable?
And why does it take around 55sec to start windows with my setup? :S
        Some help pretty please! :(

Re: Gigabyte EP35-DS3 motherboard and Intel Q9550 help.

Sorry man, Ya it appears that you posted right after I left yesterday

That 55 reads would have counted you to, and the 1000's of unregistered users who read things here.

Sorry you have been waiting so long, did you look around by searching for your CPU or board at all? Plenty of posts with that board I am sure.

            Anyhow.....

Na, no way to unlink your Ram from your CPU/FSB if that is what you meant

Here would be optimal settings for you at 3.6 with ram at 1020Mhz 1130Mhz. If you want it more exact you are going to have to raise your FSB or Lower your CPU multi and use higher FSB. You should be using the B or D ram multipliers. Here is a image that shows B and D as your board may use Symbols for the straps or have none at all by some. As you can see only a few match on each strap, and the ones you should be using do not match any of the other lesser ones you are using now (The A/266/1066) strap

You need more MCH voltage for sure for 8GB, I would suggest at least .25-.35 or .3 if you do not have .05 choices. That may be why you were finding only the A strap stable for you

Good luck man, and sorry again that it seemed no one was going to reply!

We do have a few members here who help with things they feel comfortable with, but I personally am only around at night for about 6-8 hours and it usually takes me that long to reply to everyone with new posts. I am signed in always though, so if you see that it does not mean I am here

Good luck, and for sure post back if you have issues with anything and I will advise you of things to try

Ok..i'm now running on your tips that you gave me.
                  FSB at 425 and memory at 2.40 (i don't have 2.66D)

And I don't have some other settings that you listed.

                  Like...

                  CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control [800mV]

                  x C4/C4E State Support..................: [Disabled]
Atleast I could not find them. :/

Whats the max volt on CPU etc for my board and CPU? And how high can I go with my CPU? (FSB at??)

                  Are these temps ok?
                  I'm using Realtemp and It shows me in Idle core 0 +51C, core 1 +41C, core 2 +40C, and core3 +43C.

Thanx again for your help! :)

Another problem now... it rebooted after I tried these settings that u wrote here.
And now my CPU only show 850mhz in bios and I have to enable CPU host control and set my CPU host frequency to 333 so CPU can run in normal clock at 2,8ghz...why is that??

Pretty please can someone please help me out! getting crazy here! :(

Re: Gigabyte EP35-DS3 motherboard and Intel Q9550 help.

Max safe voltage would depend on your cooling and temps overall. Intel spec is 1.365 actual. I would say 1.365-01.4ish actual is ok as long as temps are good

Your temps look good you posted. Your board can do 500+ FSB as can your CPU

You do have 2.66 as a memory setting, there just may or may not be a symbol or letter by it is all.

Sounds like you need to load optimized defaults and start again. When you do, load optimized and set your ram voltage only and save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS and set all your settings again. You will have to set your SATA/disk settings again as well.

Sounds like you just used to tight of timings or not enough voltages somewhere and your BIOS recovered from a failure from the backup BIOS is why that happened to you. Not sure what would have caused that as you did not post what settings you tried exactly

Do you see 2.66 at all? Have you loaded optimized defaults again yet? If not you should do that first
