    Hi!

    Im wondering if anyone can help me overclock my Q6600 to 3,2-3,5ish

    first my systemspecc

    Q6600 G0
    8GB (4x2GB) Corsair DHX XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX, 5-5-5-18
    (heard those are a bit soso on overclocking :/ )
    Gigabyte X48 DS5
    Corsair 620W
    WD Velociraptor
    Thermalright 120 Extreme

      upon running occt is almost immideatly get CPU to hot message, in idle its at 44

      i installed the thermalright today, maybe should wait some?<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

        What does CoreTemp show you for temps at Load? If over 60-70 for the above settings then I think you did not mount the heatsink fully or used to much paste. Did you use the washer/penny method to make it tighter? Just wondering, here is that method incase you wondered >>>


        What is the OCCT warning temp set to anyway?

              cut out a piece of metal and it does work better ty :)

              now for the overclocking

              when i run occt i get Crashed, Code 1 message

              idling its running at 32 degrees at 3.2ghz

              also the cpu seem to be going between 356x6 and 356x9, is this becouse of idling or?

                hmm strange, i get 18,5k in 3dmark06 now but 10k in vantage

                  3DMark 06 and Vantage scores will be far different

                  You need to disable EIST and C1E so your CPU will stop changing multi's and voltages on you

                      Go for 3.6GHz that way you ahve your RAM runnign at full speed :)

                      Set the FSB to 400 and the "System Memory Multiplier" to 2.0D.

                      Change the VCore to 1.4V and then test for stability.

                      Basically just use the settings Lsdmeasap posted you in post #2.

                        i tried just bringing it up to 3.33 i think it was and it reset to 2,4

                        was that becouse i didnt put up the vcore?



                        also, on some things he says like

                        should i put it at 65 or 85 / 7 or 12? :)

                          CPU Vcore will probably need to go up. Watch your core temperatures!

                          I agree with Nickel020, set the System Memory Multiplier to 2.00D at first. You can try higher multipliers later once you get the CPU stable.

                          On the memory timings, bigger = safer, smaller = faster. I prefer to start with bigger numbers at first, then go smaller once the system is stable.

                            i tried putting ait a bit lower first for stability but i get bsod

                            also running occt i get error code 1 and in prime95 in torture test i get 1 error
