cpu voltage at 1.41250

    cpu voltage at 1.41250

    I have a ga-ep45-ds3r/ds3 motherboard and a 8500 cpu I have my voltage at 1.41250 in bios and Im overclocked to 4.1 gigs. Is this to high ?
    because cpuz reports voltage at 1.376. I want to go higher with overoclok but don't want to burn out cpu. My cpu temp is 38c using real temp. Thx for any help with this also what should my cpu termination be set to.

    Seeing the maximum VID range for the e8500 is 1.3625volts for E0 & C0 stepping Cpu's i wouldn't go any higher.




    Most the overclocks I've seen on these Cpu's have been achieved by keeping the voltage below the maximum VID.
    The Absolute Maximum voltages are higher in the Intel data sheet, but I wouldn't want to get anywhere near them.

    As with all overclocking, you want to use the minimum voltage you can get away with.

      Thx for the info, So I should be happy with a 4.1 over-clock with this cpu.

        takovr - 4.1GHz sounds pretty good to me for an E8*00 CPU. I'd be happy if it's stable, but I'd be a bit uncomfortable with that vcore.

        VorLonUK - do those VID ranges from Intel refer to the value set in the mobo BIOS or what CPU-Z or whatever util tells you when you're up and running in Windows?

          wow, wow, wow thats way too high for that speed. I have an e8500 and an ep45-ud3p, 9.5 multiplier x 450 fsb = 4.275 ghx and my cpu vcore is only at 1.29375, 1.264 in windows.

            I would imagine that you need to set your own higher Vtt (Termination) and you would be able to use much less Vcore. Please do not tell us you are using Auto Vtt and PLL? I sure hope not because at 4Ghz Vtt in Auto would be about 1.8V and PLL likely as high. 1.45 Vtt has been known to kill 45nm cpu's.

            So, I think once you find and set your own Vtt you can use less Vcore, but ya never know some chips are just bad overclockers, and some are just volt hogs!

            I do agree with pinoyboy24 though, most all 8x00 CPU's do 4Ghz at 1.25-1.32 or so. I have seen very few that needed above 1.33/4 Actual to do 4Ghz. None that needed as much as you are using

            @ Pum, it is the value that the CPU actually receives not what is set in the BIOS

              everychip and mother board is different .... for 3.8 on q9550 ..i try on 5 different CPU..
              1.350, 1.4125, 1.3825 , 1.400, 1.40625 ...... i'm now working on this new chip and trying to get under 1.350 .. hehehe
