Hi guys, I am current OCing to 3.2 but I think it should do 3.6 because I am using an powerful cooler. I know what you guys need since I have been around in the forum for a while. Thanks in advance!

Re: Need help OC my E8400

well first of all ... hard code your ram ... to your spec .. 5-5-5-18 ( or what ever it is) might need your comand rate = 2 .... also hard code your PLL too..

then start up your FSB ... it's fail then add more Vcore .... add more and till fail then up your cpu termination 1 step also and/or your MCH voltage too .... that is how i do it ... you should not have much problem to 3.6

ohh... i see that you have your line calibration currently set to Enabled ... this one i'm not so sure ... i use quad and need to set this disable if not i be frying my CPU ... dual i'm not sure ... but intell spect is disable.

Below is where I'm at with 2 x 2gb of G.Skill PI's with the exception of some timings.... I'm at 4-4-4-12. If you are stable at 5-5-5-15 then bump the timings to 4-4-4-12 at each point of testing.

Got some of my info here by myself and a most with a lot of PM's with LSD......

Re: Need help OC my E8400

Let me know if you need more help, the above advice is good for sure

3.6 would just need your ram timings set, more vcore and termination, and of course FSB.

45Nm CPU, disabled Loadline calibration and find your own stable Vcore. What you set in the BIOS will just be less in windows, easily compensated for.

Let me know if you would like a full set of settings/ranges for your setup. You should easily be able to do 4Ghz so 3.6 should be super easy for you

Why are you using x8 when the multiplier for the E8400 is x9 ?

Re: Need help OC my E8400

You might want to look at the settings in this post as it's a similar setup to yours:

However, he has PC2-9600 which he can run at 500x2.4=1200MHz. Your PC2-6400 memory is rated to only 800MHz, but it's good quality so may be OK to 1000MHz or so, probably with extra volts. Those CPUs are usually good for a bit over 4GHz. Considering your memory I suggest you aim for 445x9=4005MHz on your CPU with memory at 445x2=890MHz; you might be able to get your memory to run at 445x2.4=1068MHz. Before that you might want to try CPU @ 400x9=3600MHz, mem @ 400x2.0=800MHz. If your memory is OK with extra volts and OCing then you could try to push it to 400x2.4=960MHz.

I would also ensure your case cooling is good, with in/out fans front/rear. Might want to add a small fan to the MCH heatsink and some fans on the memory too if you increase vmem and OC it much.

            Good luck.
            Intel E8400 E0 3GHz @ 4.0GHz (444x9) stable (provisionally), max 4.4GHz (489x9), Zalman CNPS 9700 (core temp 46c @ max load @ 4.0GHz),

Re: Need help OC my E8400

Thanks guys! I have moved up my CPU to 370x9 yesterday and I want to stay at that for 1-2 days to test the stability. Currently I do have issues that I susupect is related with my memory(?) As sometimes when I play my fallout3 it would say "fallout3.exe" has gone wrong and I am forced back to my desktop. So I guess a full setting will be very helpful from you Lsdmeasap. Thanks!

Re: Need help OC my E8400

Thanks a bunch. I am gonna try it out. About my video card, since I am using ATI tray so I am able to monitor the GPU temp. During game playing it usually levels up to 60-70C but hardly reach 80C. I wonder if that would be the problem? But fallout3 has its own issue as reported by other people as well.

You could pretty much follow my settings. I have now achieved 3.6ghz and even I didn't run stability test, I played games like fallout3 and crysis:warhead for about 10+ hours. My computer is like 2 fold more powerful than it was.
