  • Gigabyte GA EP45 DS3 + Q6600

    Hey Guys.

Just recently installed a new Mobo, CPU and RAM and have been having some slight issues with it. Looking at trying to get it to about 3.00Ghz (333FSB). I have upped the Vcore and Dram Voltage (1.375ish and 2.1v - At work atm.) but every time I boot, at post it reboots and sets the values back to stock? I have also had it happen on just a reboot.

    I have disabled the following:
    -Disabled ESIT
    -Disabled C1E
    -Disabled TM2
    -Disabled Virtualisation Technology

Could be a coinsidence but one of my HDD's has also apparently just died.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Enabled TM2

I think your Hard drive may be fine, you just may have to format it. Sounds like you are not setting PCI Express freq to 100 so your data became corrupted since you overclocked.

Set performance enhance to standard for sure. I can help you with all your settings but you need to link me to your exact ram and tell me how much of it you are using

Fill this out with what you are trying that fails and I will advise back once you link me to your ram >>>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

      Hey man.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll get those figures ASAP. But yeah. the HDD is failing. I've reformated and checked the drive. Keeps coming up with errors. But thats not why I'm here atm :)

I'll reply asap with my numbers :)

        Re: Gigabyte GA EP45 DS3 + Q6600

K, please do set PCI Express to 100 though, and it may help your errors go away with your drive since you are overclocking

          Re: Gigabyte GA EP45 DS3 + Q6600

OK. Finally got to the settings. New HDD and CPU Fan installed.

          Rated at 2.1v

I believe the memory isn't quite stable it did come up with a error during prime95 and Orthos. I would like to get it to 3.2Ghz.

Under 100% load, its running at approx 61degrees.

            Re: Gigabyte GA EP45 DS3 + Q6600

This motherboard overclocks really well, but there's one issue, V.droop like hell, near 0.1v in full usage, i can't get stable in high frequencies such as 3300mhz without Intel Burn Test reboots my system, to endure such test, i set at bios 1.47v to drop to something like 1.33v, and temperatures skyrocketing until i manually stops that test at 75 degrees.

Looking for anything who at least tries to supress that high v.droop, i know Intel has designed that way, but it doesn't help when the subject is overclocking. I don't want to do some crazy mods installing resistors and stuff at the motherboard, i think that's too extreme.

I've set here to 1.3750v at V.core, 1.344v at Windows, at 3Ghz. Northbridge at 1.2v and the rest is set at their default values.

I'll keep trying to do something, perhaps lowering my multiplier and raising FSB to see if i'll have any progress.

Memtest86+ is how you should test your ram to see if it is stable, orthos/prime may give you CPU related errors and you wont be sure. Run 5-10 passes of memtest to see whats what.

Ya, vdrop will be alot, and it will fluctuate so at a higher FSB you may see less of a drop. You will just need to compensate in the BIOS. I can see if I can find you a volt mod (Pencil) if you like?

I see MCH 1.16 in your settings above, if memtest fails you may need to adjust tha 1.24-1.28 maybe
