Re: P45-DS4, E8400 & ReaperX PC8000-2x2gb benchmarked
Nope still tRD10, since i'm not always gonna run 4GHz (wanna be able to quickswitch in BIOS to 3.6GHz if it's like above 25 degrees on my room (and vise versa). If i run 3.6Ghz i can't even hear the fans, it's around 10 degrees cooler.
C1 state doesnt work 100% @ 8x500, it lower's multiplier to 6 idle... but doesnt lower voltage.
I can tell tRD 9 add's ~250mb readspeed and does about -2 ns latency in Everest Memory bench. Would be nice if i ever get this to boot (always) proper, since it's 100% stable.
About issue i had with Standy-resume, it looks like resume works very proper like it should now. Even on 4Ghz. Performance Enhancer was the bad guy. And i can also advice everyone to run this "Standard", since it add's stability, no matter what other settings used. Just the little bit extra stability it needs for Standby to resume.... always (Memtest gave only like 5 error's in 20 loops on "Turbo", thats very few).
Still have the issue with Cold-booting.... when system has been off for a longer period of time.... I hit the power button, power kicks in (fans spin for less then a second, then stop).... 2 seconds nothing... then it automatically boots proper.... Boots always the second time, if not the first. This is also no matter what settings are used (meaning even default).
Re: P45-DS4, E8400 & ReaperX PC8000-2x2gb benchmarked
just checked voltages with a professional multimeter to be very sure...
Checked 5v and 12v rails.. values appear to be even better then Everest (everest is false).
12v is 12.11v
5v is 4.98
both IDLE and full LOAD (3dmarkvantage)
it's very nice imo since its less than 1% deviation.
Re: P45-DS4, E8400 & ReaperX PC8000-2x2gb benchmarked
****, S3-resume just crapped out on me while doing 4GHz...
Nothing is what it seems :(
Guess ill have to live with it since memtest/orthos is 100% stable.
Hopefully it keeps working on 3.6GHz.
Re: P45-DS4, E8400 & ReaperX PC8000-2x2gb benchmarked
I did a very intereresting finding:
Higher MCH voltage allows lower (faster) tRD settings.
example:
- with 1.36v on my MCH, tRD 9 ALWAYS manages to POST @ 8x500.
(it needs 1.32v to be memtest/orthos stable)
- when running 9x400 with tRD 8 @ 1.1v MCH, i'm unable to get it tighter until i set a higher MCH voltage. That also allows me to do tRD 7!
Unfortunatly, when running tRD 9 @ 8x500 with 1.36v @ MCH, S3 resume still fails.
I dont want to go higher than 1.36v MCH for 24/7 use... so im kinda stuck here...
I think a future bios update should add MCH_startup_value, or something similar!
Perhaps this MCH voltage has something to do with my coldboot issue aswell...
It's so time-consuming to figure it all out!
I'll be pleased to hear your word on this, LSD
edit:
i seem to have reboot (coldboot) issues asswell @ tRD9...
I tried if tRD 11 would work for S3 standby... also no-go
So im currently running tRD 10 with S1 standby :(
Re: P45-DS4, E8400 & ReaperX PC8000-2x2gb benchmarked
Cold boot issues and or S3 failure can be many thing, normally some voltages. I'd need to see what works and what does not work for you to advise better.
And ya more MCH will allow tighter tRD for sure, what strap was you using in the above mentioned tests you ran as that also is a huge factor
Re: P45-DS4, E8400 & ReaperX PC8000-2x2gb benchmarked
I am using 2.00d strap, on both my 9x400 and 8x500 profile.
S3 works proper on 9x400 for a while now, settings are shown in the benchmark-screenshot.
I current have to run the settings shown in the 8x500 benchmark, to prevent me getting stuck in a reboot loop when rebooting from windows, or avoid problems when switching profile.
However, with this tRD10 S3 still doesnt work for me.
So for 9x400 it's fine, my 8x500 just has issues...
Getting it to work @ 9x400 was a matter of setting performance enhancer to Standard, but with 8x500 i'm (ofcourse) also running standard.
Would love to see 8x500 working @ tRD 9 (since it's 100% stressstable) without any issues!
