Hi,
A few months ago I built a new rig. This is my first attempt at overclocking, and I thought I'd share my experiences so far. I could also use some pointers on how to continue.
This is my system:
Antec p182
Enermax Modu82+ 625W
Gigabyte GA-EP45DS3P (rev.1)
Intel E8400 (TRUE 120 Extreme)
OCZ Platinum 4GB PC2-8000
Geforce 8800 GTS G92
WD Velociraptor
After some tinkering, I decided to try to get 4.0GHz stable, starting off with these settings in Bios F8.
These are the results from testing with Orthos 2004 blend test (the failing core in brackets). The Vcore values are the bios setting, not the actual Vcore. As you can see, I discovered some things along the way, such as the Orthos priority setting (and it does make a difference).
After reading a bit on this forum, I expected better results with a higher MCHcore, but that wasn't the case. I also noticed that at the stable settings, the voltages are lower than what is generally recommended. Is this because of the relaxed memory settings perhaps?
Anyway, I should optimize the memory further. It's 1000 MHz memory, but I can get it to boot at around 1050MHz (a quick try at 6-6-6-25). As far as I can see I have the following options:
However, I havent been able to boot with a FSB higher than 450, and at the 333MHz latch the system is not stable. So, should I settle for 890 MHz?
