  • EP45-DS3R BIOS and Memory question...

I might be posting this in the wrong section but know how specific some motherboards are I figured this would be the place to start.

I have a EP45-DS3R, Intel Q9550, and 8Gigs of OCZ PC-8500 Platinum RAM. The problem is I can not tell what the FSB is operating at.

To start I have the following set in the BIOS:

The problem with all of this is that I can not tell if I am running at DDR2-800 or 1066. I see that I have 533 running but all the RAM info says it maxes out at 400.

Also the voltage with the RAM is a huge headache. The MB wants to run it at 1.8, the RAM says to run at 2.1, and the OCZ page says to run it at 2.2v. When I try to increase the voltage the system becomes more and more unstable.

I just want to makes sure I have everything set up correctly and also if anyone could verify that the CPUZ readout of Core Speed 1999.8 MHz (6.0 x 333.3 MHz) is based off a built in Intel feature to drop the power consumption of the processor when not being utilized that would be nice.

I have looked around a bit for answers and think I may have pieced things together but am not 100% sure.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: EP45-DS3R BIOS and Memory question...

From what i see you are running everything at stock settings. The easiest way to confirm your fsb,ram voltages and frequency is with easy tune 5.In the bios load optimized defaults save and exit do not change any ram voltages.Once you are in windows run easytune and under overclocking advanced mode you will see your fsb,Memory frequency and voltage. If your memory frequency and voltage is below 1066, 2.1volts then you would have to manually set the frequency and voltage in the bios.(note:if memory is running at 1.8v to get to 2.1 you have to increase by 0.30 the DRAM Voltage) and the CPUZ readout of Core Speed 1999.8 MHz (6.0 x 333.3 MHz) is based on a built in Intel feature to save power when cpu is idle.

Re: EP45-DS3R BIOS and Memory question...

Ran Easy Tune and got a surprise or two...
I guess the CPU bus (which is 1333.97 on the cpu tab) is different than the memory bus which indicates 1066 on the tuner tab.

When I clicked the advanced setting on the tuner tab and selected voltage it displays DRAM voltage as 2.1v....but the BIOS indicates its at 1.8v.

Seems a little odd to me. Regardless, thanks for the help.

Re: EP45-DS3R BIOS and Memory question...

If you have things in Auto in the BIOS it will adjust your ram voltage so it can run higher speed from your ram's SPD Chip

To check FSB use CPU-z >>>
