Hi guys I am hoping someone can help me here

does anyone know the default voltages for the ga-x48-ds4, I am looking to push my 8400 beyond 3.6Ghz and would like to push the FSB and MCH volts but I am not aware what they are defaulted to. Without this info I don't feel comfortable pushing them.

Also would this be the best Strap for a 4Ghz + overclock
    Corsair doms 5-5-5-15 @2.1v 1066Mhz

Any tips on getting this stable as I seem to error prime95 on core 0 after about 30 mins

      Re: ga-x48-ds4 voltages

That looks good, yes that strap is the one I would use. You may just need more MCH, how much ram do you have installed?

Default voltages can be found at Intel in the Datasheets >>>

And you can see what it set with EasyTune if you go back to stock and then look

You will be safe with +.1-2 FSB and +.3 MCH if you need it.

But you may just need more volts for that 4Ghz, what is your vdrop from BIOS to windows? 1.35 in the BIOS may be under 1.32 or so, so you need to look and see what it is. You can check with CPU-z

Hello and Thanks for the reply!

I have actually changed my config since last posting

Passed 12 hours of Prime 95 blend with the above configuration and volt
Very little Vdroop on this board

        Idle - 1.344v
        Load - 1.328v

        Temps at the end of Prime 95 core0 51 core1 47 (TJMAX 100)

I using a 2x2GB config using the slots furthest from the Northbridge.

I'm impressed with this board, I also have a evga790iFTW also with a Q9550 which I managed to get to 4Ghz but it wasn't as trouble free as this board.
Do you know of any reports of this board running at a FSB of 500Mhz? if so I would love to attempt to take this to 4Ghz at 8X CPU Multi. I should be able to overvolt the MCH and FSB if so.

Update Ah I have just the x48 MCH document base 1.25v so I am currently yielding 1.4v- Very nice to know

I had a look at Easytune is the FSB volt listed as VTT?

          Re: ga-x48-ds4 voltages

I could not agree more i have [email protected] and Mushkin xps2 pc-8500 @1080 5-5-4-13.I have build 4-5 systems in the last year for friends and except for the 1st 1 witch i use Asus rampage board and to get same OC i takes much more CPU voltage.I have had very little problems with any of them some minor problems each board needed little tweeks to reach 3.6 w/Q9450.I would suggest this board to any 1 with that chip. Not to many BIOS updates but that may not be a bad thing means fewwer problems i would think.Good luck with te rest of OC not sure what ram you are useing but this board seems to love MUSHKIN.

            Re: ga-x48-ds4 voltages

Ya, it will do 500 FSB +

Vtt is CPU Termination Voltage. MCH Voltage would be MCH Core. And you would be fine with more
