  • Q6600, EP45-ud3p, 1150 5-5-5-15 ram, overclocking help :D

Hello, I see a bunch of threads here asking about overclocking help and seeing how saw the members are very helpful ( Lsdmeasap) I was wondering if you can help me to overclock my q6600 and the EP45-ud3p.

    Thanks in advance.

    1- cpu Q6600 G0

    2- Xigmatek HDT-s1283
    3- EVGA 9800 gx2
    4- RAM
    5- 750 watt corsair TX
    6- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P

I am currently sitting at 3.0 but if you can give me any settings to get higher I would truly be grateful.

Do you need me to fill out the form as well? (http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/help...79/#post267985)

wow .. with your ram and this motherboard .. you can OC to 3.6 easy ... you need to post your current setting ... go into some of the post ,.,.. copy the template of bios ... and add your setting to it ... once we have that .. then will able to help you better ... need to see your starting point first

i though you was at 3.0 .. should be 333x9 .... and that is your default Vcore now ?? what your temp idle / full load ?? what program are you checking your temp ?? what program you run to stress test ? .. i know it's lot of detail .. but more we know .. the better can help

in OC ... there is basicly 2 thing that you constance adjust and tweak ... then you do the ram latter .. this is how i OC mine any way .. one i get to what i want .. and this for me base on the temp of the CPU ... once i get to about 60 on full load ... this going about range i stop ... want to be safe and run 24/7

Vcore- that the most... if not stable .. then add more
Mch core .. should be between 1.2 - 1.3 ... but with this board .. this is very low ( good thing)

Bump, my computer starts up and works fine during orthos stress test ( running at 3.05 for now ) but the post is now a single long beep (about 2 or 2.5 seconds long ).

What is causing it and is it bad?

that is probably a bad trap on memory timing ... happen to me constancely every time i go higher .. bring my trap to 400 now ... want to use 333 but can't ... hehehe .. and my ram can't oc too high .. so i try to go lower trap for more speed ...

So your saying if I loosen timings and/or bring down frequency itll stop doing whatever its doing?

                    Re: Q6600, EP45-ud3p, 1150 5-5-5-15 ram, overclocking help :D

                    First trial: 3.2 9x and 8x
I bluescreen after the vista loading screen again with your settings. (9x and 3.2)

Hmm, I changed multiplier back to 8 and changed FSB to 400 then set the memory multiplier to 2.00A or something (1000) and it booted fine. So its 3.2 now and no long post beep nor blue screen.

According to real temp (TJmax of 95) my temps are 30 32/31 28 28 when completely idle. When CPU usage is at 100% my temps are 56 56 54 54.
                    -----------------------------------------------------
                    Second trial: 3.3 8x

I changed the FSB to 413 and the voltage is 1.4 according to cpuz. (though my bios is set to 1.47 or something).

                    Highest load temps: 60 60 57 57
                    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
                    Third trial: 3.4 8x

I will do that later I am happy with 3.3 for now. I will post my complete settings for 3.4, 3.3, and 3.3 soon if you haven't been following along.

After notes: I found odd that for some reason my voltages would drop when I ran the stress tests for example when I was first testing 3.4 I had 1.45 voltage then ran the stress test and it dropped to 1.42 and bluescreened later on. If I continued tweaking I would try higher voltage.

Thanks all for all the help.

Looks like you have made some progress! Nice to hear!

Ya, I suggested the 9 multi so you could better get at your rated ram speed. * multi is fine, especially since you have made progress with it anyhow!

That voltage change is normal, it is a design by Intel to make sure your CPU does not get overvolted. There will be a initial drop from what you set in the BIOS to what you get in windows, this is called Vdrop/voffset. Then there will be another drop from that idle voltage to when your system is at load, this is called Vdroop.

Here is a in depth read on that if you would like to know more >>>
Intel Processor Power Delivery Design Guidelines and Specifications: Vdroop Explained - The Tech Repository Forums

And yeap, if you need more voltages at load then you just need to increase your BIOS setting. Just keep a Eye on what you get for Actual with CPU-z as at certain voltage ranges the vdrop and vdroop amount values may differ
