  • EP45-UD3P Q6600 PC-8000 how to OC?

I'm going to buy GA-EP45-UD3P, Q6600 (G0) and 4GB 1000Mhz RAM of G.SKILL (F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ) or OCZ Platinum (OCZ2P10004GK) - no idea which one is better for Gigabyte mobo.
It gonna handle 8GB of that memory in the future?

I want to OC it to 3Ghz (seems to be safe ammount).

    i have .. EP35-DS3L , EP35C-DS3R, EP45-UD3P ... they all can OC Q6600 to 3.42 with 1.3750 vcore or less .... idle 34-39 ... load 54-61 .....
P35 bios is easier to OC .... P45 hardder but can OC higher.
in Q6600 3.0 can do with pretty much stock voltage.. actually lower than stock voltage.

pretty much an board can do 8 gig but always will have to lower the ram when run 8gig. i'm doing my setup now with 8 gig ram in P45-UD3P and Q9550 .

    good luck

Would you recommend other memory type for 8gig?

all this is on air .. tunis tower .. Zalman9700 .. and XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 .... all 3 is good and about the same ... i'm now using XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 but with the Tunis tower fan ... like to control the speed to quiet down when i'm not OC ...
from all the read and review .. S1283 is good and cheap ... newegg have them on sale ... but do need to buy the brackett. it's take little less room then the other 2 cooler

8 gig ... seem from everything i read in this forum .. the best 2 ram are Muskin and Gskill ... Muskin seem every one favorite ... i already bought corsair dominator 8500 ... if i knew about this forum earlier i would get muskin ..

just wait untill tonight when master Lsdmeasap reply to your answer .. he would know best ...

G.Skills would be fine, models ending in K are best, Q second best. Mushkin would also work great for your board.

8GB would be fine, you will just need to tweak your timings a bit more then you are used to likely.

OCZ may be fine as well, I have not tested any yet myself but I do see many issues with various models but without testing myself I cannot tell if those are just user issues or ram issues

added note ... just got my 8 gig dominator 8500 ... run fine with this board ... strapp 333 .. 2.4 at 1020 .... run stable .. pass 2 hours OCCT mix ... pass 3 hours of blend prime so far and still running ... not final yet :)
