  • mix 2.0v 2.2v ram on GA-P35-DS3L?

I have a GA-P35-DS3L based system that I built last year with two 1GB sticks of crucial RAM in slots 1 & 3; they run in dual mode. The mem is BL2KIT12864AA804 which is rated at 2.2V. Currently FRY's is offering the similar, newer BL2KIT12864AA80A for $8 after rebate but it is rated at 2.0V. If I were to install that in dual mode in slots 2 & 4, would the SPD set two different optimum voltages automatically or would I be setting myself up for trouble? Thanks.

    Re: mix 2.0v 2.2v ram on GA-P35-DS3L?

You could, usually not a good idea to mix different batches of even the same ram.......

But that older 2.2V ram can and should always be ran at 2.0-2.1 anyway. So you may be just fine

That 2.2 is the max warrantied, not what you need to run them anyway

Yes the SPD would likely try to set tow different values for timings and or voltages if you use AUTO, so you may have to setup things all manually. Which I would suggest you do anyway as with 4x1 you would likely have to even if they all matched (At least it would be best to)
