Re: Help With OC of GA-EP45-DS3L - Latch Frequency & RAM Timings

I should call you over to my house. I'm sure you could get things to run. Hope you're hourly rate isn't too expensive ;)

Anyways, it didn't post. I made the voltage changes you suggested and fooled around with a few more settings. I still think its the memory because it won't even post at 800MHZ at certain settings.

But I have to give the computer to my friend now... I'm sure he wants it. An 800MHZ OC is pretty decent for him anyways, he's probably just going to check his email on it and listen to some MP3s.

K, well sorry I could not help. One last thing before you ship it out, did you try >>>
      System Memory Multiplier ..............: 3.33D

it is a bit faster on the ram but will be more stable overall as the NB is much looser

Don't say that... you helped a lot. I really appreciate it. I've never had anyone answer my questions like this on any other forum. Gigabyte is fortunate to have someone like you on their forums.

As for the OC, I tried 3.33D, for some reason the x.xxD and x.xxB (the 400MHZ and 333MHZ) MCH Latches won't post on with this setup, even at stock settings. I don't understand why.

Re: Help With OC of GA-EP45-DS3L - Latch Frequency & RAM Timings

          Thanks for your kind words!!!

But, I am sorry. I only wish I could be at people houses or access BIOS and reboots, ect remotely like remote assistance, that would be great!

For the D strap you would need a higher MCH (If you did not already have it at 1.26 or so) and a higher then 9 static tread

If you want to still try before you ship it out, post me what you try with D strap and I will see if I can think of why it fails.

Re: Help With OC of GA-EP45-DS3L - Latch Frequency & RAM Timings

MCH at 1.3V and Static tRead at 12 on both channels fails at 4.00D at stock speeds (800MHZ RAM).

All other settings staying as is.

Don't have a chance to post settings right now... probably be dropping off the PC today anyways in about an hour, so its ok.

Re: Help With OC of GA-EP45-DS3L - Latch Frequency & RAM Timings

robertsmith, lowering MCH core voltage from 1.10v to 1.05v has brought instant stability to the GA-EP45-DS3L board for quite a few people when running 2x2gb of RAM.

Lsdmeasap can confirm this, I'm sure, as noted in several threads on this forum. While I am certainly not an expert as LSD is on these matters, it appears to me from my own experience and that of other posters that there could be some sort of voltage regulation or voltage reporting problem with this motherboard or the bios. It is easily corrected with a simple setting adjustment in the bios and not a reason to throw in the towel. The board performs perfectly after the change.

He is correct, and It seems to only affect DS3x models and certain BIOS's from what I have seen.

Re: Help With OC of GA-EP45-DS3L - Latch Frequency & RAM Timings

i am having similar issues as Robert Smith was having, I am running the GA-EP45-DS3L and the e5200 processor. I am using the OCZ 2x2GB Fatal1ty ddr2 1066 memory. the memory has timings of 6-7-7-20 and 2.0v. The memory seems the be working well, however the best overclock I can get is 3.6ghz (300mhz x 12) @ ~1.45v. if i switch the fsb to 333, it won't post at 3.0ghz, or 333mhz x 9.

my latch is set to auto, although I have tried the settings suggested by LSD for latch/mem multi

My timings are set to 6-7-7-20 @ 2.0v even though the manufacturer specifies 7-7-7-20, it wouldnt post

                  BIOS is F10 (latest release)

Also, i set the MCH Core to 1.050v as suggested.

No matter what, I can't seem to post with a 333 bus

                  Any advice?

Re: Help With OC of GA-EP45-DS3L - Latch Frequency & RAM Timings

Has anyone experinced any problems after updating fo F10 BIOS. After I updated OC settings do not work. I will try gong back to F9 and see if that fixes the problem.

Also does anyone have sugested OC settings for this memory

                    Model
                    Brand GeIL
                    Model GX24GB8500C5UDC
                    Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
                    Tech Spec
                    Capacity 4GB (2 x 2GB)
                    Speed DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
                    Cas Latency 5
                    Timing 5-5-5-15
                    Voltage 2.2V - 2.4V

for some reason BIOS shows it at 800Mhz instead of 1066.

                      @ DBurns6386

Please post your full settings you are trying when you try 333 and I will see if I can help, and you may want to be trying the normal suggested 1.2-1.3 MCH Voltage as that undervolt only helps SOME Boards

                      @ db0511

You have to either change your FSB or you memory multi, hard to say without your full specs posted

I will try to get those posted asap. there's no easy way to export settings right? I'm wondering if i would see much benefit pursueing 333mhz at this point anyway, as I currently have it up to 3.75ghz 300 x 12.5 and it seems to be pretty stable. I will get back to you...

Also, my vcore is set to 1.5 in the bios to get 1.45-1.47(it bounces around) in cpu-z. is this OK/normal?

oh and db0511, I installed F10 right out of the gate so i'm not sure if that helped or hurt.

Ya, you have to manually give me your settings, no easy way really. You could print out the template though and note to yourself the settings and then write back here. That would be a little easier then witting the template out manually

That is Way high actual Vcore!!!!! What Vtt (Termination) are you using?

The fluctuation is normal, What you set in the BIOS vs what you get in windows at idle is vdrop, and what you get at load vs idle is Vdroop. Intel design to save your CPU From killing itself

Here is you a blank Template.. Well mostly blank

Sorry it took so long, life got in the way! Here are a few snapshots of my current settings and cpu-z verifcation. it seems that after this current speed turning up the voltage makes little impact on the fsb i am able to attain. i set the mch core to 1.3 and have so far seen no ill effects. please let me know what you think.
