  • Best BIOS setting

I have currently built a rig (my first time :) )

    MB : GA-EP45-DS3L (BIOS F9 -- updated using @BIOS O_O I know, I was crazy...but it worked)
    Procc : Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz
    Memory : Kingston 2 x 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 (timing is 5-5-5-18 , 1.8V)
    VGA : Gigabyte GeForce 9800GT 1GB
    HDD :Seagate 500GB Sata

I'm using an AOpen 400W PSU (enough amps and wattage for all components). I don't have a plan to overclock any time soon.

It's working nicely and stable so far under Vista 32bit (my 64bit order haven't arrived yer) and Dual Channel works as well. I'm a bit green when it comes to BIOS setting, and no guide can be found anywhere. Does anyone know the best setting for my rig? Or should I just leave it as it is?

    Help appreciated. Thank you..

    Re: Best BIOS setting

Dont do it again!!! You have been warned

There is two guides pinned at the top of this section, did you miss them?

Since you are not overclocking please give me your settings you are using now and I will advise what would be optimal for that speed. Also please give me a link to where you bought your ram or the model #

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

      Re: Best BIOS setting

I really really really am sorry. :( When I read the sticky post it says for P35. So I gave up hope... Really sorry, I won't do it again :)

      So anyway, here's my settings:

      Memory: Kingston 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model KVR800D2N5/2G

      Newegg.com - Kingston 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

I have one problem. It seems that the system won't return from Sleep/Hibernate state. Well it will, after I push the reset system, but It would take significantly longer time resume windows...

      All drivers are recent.

        Re: Best BIOS setting

No problems, Yeah it is more for P35/X48 but it does have some good reading and would let you know what is what in the BIOS. The memory guide should also help ya some.

Since you are using the F9 S3 Sleep BIOS already, did you load optimized defaults and save and apply/reboot after you flashed? If not you MUST, and that would be why you are likely having sleep issues. If you did, then you may just have some incorrect settings, which I do see.

Please note, after you load optimized and reboot you will also need to set your hard drive settings again before you load windows.

Here is optimal settings for you with NO Overclock, if you decide to overclock come and ask because a few things would for sure need to be changed first

            Re: Best BIOS setting

Nice to see you are running smoothly! Ya, please do stop in if you want to overclock as there is a few things that need to be disabled I did not note.

And of course let us know if you have any other issues as well.
