Re: Help with overclocking Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5 + Q9550

Ahh ok! Ya, I can help for sure. There isn't that much difference as far as overclocking from P35 to X48, just a few minor voltage adjustments you can make

So have you used the board yet to see the BIOS? Just wondering, because if someone told you there is a big difference there is not. Only these additional settings over P35-DS4 >>>

          CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control [800mV]
          CPU Clock Skew Control [normal]
          GMCH Clock Skew Control [Normal]

What kind of problems are you having ? Just set the multiplier to .05 and the 400 X8.5 = 3.4 Ghz. I fooled around with the other setting till I got my memory to 1:1 and it was not hard at all. I am using the Achi bIOS.

NimrodAUS has had monumental probs with his. It seems that not all 9550's are easy to overclock.

                    http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/new-...3-q9550-32799/

Its in an X48 mobo, while his E8500 went into the EP45 of the topic title.

The overclocking guide is a sticky at the top of the forum you are posting in. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...g-guide-26112/

Thanks Salty. Yes Im afraid my Q9550 Doesnt seem to want to really do anything other than stock. Truth be told I cant even remember if I have ran prime or any bench on stock. Maybe I should do that first I guess? Currently I have it @ 3.09ghz (354X8.5) which I though was stable as it passed prime 95 24hours but Crashed running Futuremark. Hard lock just like when running 400X7,8,8.5,6 anything number multi you like. tried 399 401, just fails a thread in prime one at a time or hard locks. I havent had much time the last month to do much computer related at all. Read my thread for the most current updates.
