  • GA-EP45-DS3R(F10) + 2x2gb Corsair Dominator 1066 + E8500

    Ram = 2.1v 5/5/5/15
    Mobo = F10 BIOS
    CPU = 3.16ghz stock - targeting 4-4.2ghz
    HSF = Stock Intel cooler

    Anyone have some sample BIOS settings or can point me in the right direction?

      Memory = Newegg.com - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

      CPU = Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

      Mobo = Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards with the F10 BIOS

      Currently everything on the M.I.T page is default except for the ram voltage which I bumped up to 2.1 as per the memory specs. Trying to target 4-4.2ghz, currently it is running at the factory 3.16ghz. Thanks!

          Hi
          I would like (if you can), to help me out with a similar overclocking I would like to do. You can read my post at this link:

          Thank you in advance.

              Re: GA-EP45-DS3R(F10) + 2x2gb Corsair Dominator 1066 + E8500

              Hi.
              I have an almost identical setup to the original poster.

              Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R
              Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
              Corsair 4GB PC2-8500 DDR2-1066

              BFG GTX 260 OCX Maxcore

              LSDMEASAP: I want to try out suggestions here but I don't know what some of your explanations mean. I don't even necessarily want to go as high as the poster is asking. I'm a total noob at this, so I really need black and white descriptions. Thanks!

              Under DRAM performance control.... "Set Voltages, and Static Tread high, and this only and save/reboot to make other changes."
              - What do you mean? Is this the first setting to change before making any other change in this whole list?

              For Advanced Timing Control.... "Set to all highest below first"
              - Huh? Does that mean set all these to the highest of what you suggested? ex: if you wrote "3-5", choose 5?

              Also, "may need ## for first boot thru"
              - There's going to be more than one boot? Does this mean if I don't set it to the suggested ##, it's not going to boot properly?

              Under Motherboard Voltage Control.... "all up to your chip"
              - You see what chip I've got. What should I set these to?

              -----------
              I think that's it. I hope you can help. I'd really like to try this out but don't want to fry my mobo or cpu or whatever.

              Thanks a lot in advance for your response.

              Overnuke never came back. That kind of scares me.

                Re: GA-EP45-DS3R(F10) + 2x2gb Corsair Dominator 1066 + E8500

                Yes, change that first (MCH) and then set your ram multi again, then static Tread high and voltages and then reboot. Then change the rest. Main thing is to try to make as little changes with MCH latch as you can..... You can also set them all at once, I do, but just suggest that to everyone as it does boot thru easier that way.

                Yeap, set to all highest then lower later testing with memtest (Has to be this version) as you go >>>
                Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

                For boot thru, I mean that sometimes like for those I suggest 3-6 as optimal for example with may need 12 to boot thru means set to 12 and then save and reboot back and lower back to optimal range. Yes there will be many reboots as you tweak your ram.

                And so you know now, a double reboot when making BIOS changes is normal. A triple or more is not and you will see red warning box in the BIOS and defaults will be applied (Not shown, you will still see your incorrect/failed settings). That means something is still incorrect

                Up to your chip means, all chips are not the same. Some will need far more voltage then others will, some far less at the same clocks.

                You will be fine, just dont go voltage crazy if things are not working for you. And be sure you look now with CPU-z what voltage you get in windows for your CPU compared to what you set in the BIOS it will be less and you need to keep that in mind

                Please read the overclock and Memory stickies and if you do need help post me what speed you want to run and I will post you back some settings. Make a new thread if you like, that way I dont confuse you with the other 2-3 already posting here

                Good luck, and I am here to help so dont run away like overnuke? HAHA Dont know what happened there? Maybe he got what he needed and just has not posted back, sometimes it happens

                  Thanks. I may post a new thread, but I don't want to make more work for you. :)

                  I really appreciate the help. I will be sticking around here at least until I get it right. I'll let you know how it goes. And I'll read the stickies before doing anything.
