  • Can't boot with changed settings in BIOS

    Hi,

so recently I bought a new PC and I intend to do some OC on it. I have a EP45-DS3L mb, Q9450 cpu, 2x 2GB PC8500 DDR2 OCZ's, a good VGA and my cooling seems to be also in order (in BIOS, my CPU t. shows 19-23C). The problem is, whenever I change some basic values in BIOS, it does not boot, then restarts and boots up with defoult values. It happens even if all I change is CPU's Bus speed and add a few (like 5-10) units. I figure it should boot these settings without any adjustments to voltage...

I'm pretty much new to this OC thing, so please ask if there are some values or some other properties of my PC I should give to you before you can help me...

Re: Can't boot with changed settings in BIOS

What are you changing? 2x2GB needs some general for sure things set such as MCH voltage, ram voltage and trfc of 52-62 at least.

PCI Express should be set to 100 for overclocking, which you are doing. And performance Enhance should be set to Standard. If you are still having issues let me know and I will help. Post your full settings you try that fail and I will advise >>>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

Re: Can't boot with changed settings in BIOS

ok, got to a checkpoint running at 3.44Ghz, anything more and it starts to crash, or isn't booting (freezing at Windows loading screen and such...)
Am doing tests with prime 95 now... And I was wondering for how long should my system be able to run these stress tests without failing in any core? I was doing the default one and one core failed after 40 minutes... (I'm doing this on 32 bit XP SP3)

          here are the BIOS details:

i guess 2.0v(or whatever u like) for ram and 1.24/1.26 for MCH.
            and definitely more vcore,1.38 bios+

well, Intel says that the max for this (Q9450) CPU is 1.3625V, and I hope to avoid any fatalities...

1.38 set in the BIOS will only be about 1.32 Or less actual, you will be fine. You will not hit 1.36 until about 1.42 set in the BIOS
