  • GigaByte GA-EX38 DQ6 Chipset Driver

    I wonder myself,

When is a new chipset driver comming out for the GA-EX38 DQ6 ?
its since a long time release not more updated since 2008/02/15
8.3.1.1011 same for Sata driver 2008/09/15 8.5.0.1032 when trying
to install it won't budge because it can't find the right HW resources.

If we look up to AMD's new chipset driver releases for XP and Vista
we seen improvements in their chipset software each month, but it
seems not logical at all when i tried run some driver check tools like
DriverMax they said there been better ones, i need to take the
GA-EX48 DQ6 ones, but they won't update at all.

Old versions found 8.3.1.1011 (only on Gigabyte update server)
    8.4.0.1018 seems out only for the GA-EX 48 DQ6 and new 8.6.1.1001
is around but never found on Gigabyte's server back.

So were the hack is our new chipset drivers to improved the speeds
and adjust the system compatebility, can you inform us how to adjust
them and if so were we can get them from ?

Re: GigaByte GA-EX38 DQ6 Chipset Driver

I always get mine at the source

Intel's chipset package can always be found here >>>
Download Software, Drivers and Utilities Filters

Choose Vista *32 or *64, not a Vista Product name such as Ultimate, home, ect

Or here is the latest (They are all a universal package anyway) >>>
    |MG| Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility 9.0.0.1011

DriverMax and other similar sites are of no use, most want you to pay for a free driver!

Also, here you may get the latest Intel Matrix Storage drivers (Floppy and Windows Install) >>>
Download Software, Drivers and Utilities Filters

RealTek Drivers for sound and LAN >>>
    Realtek

J.Micron (Gigabyte SATAII RAID Chip) if you use RAID On that chip, purple ports >>
    J-MICRON

Re: GigaByte GA-EX38 DQ6 Chipset Driver

      Thank you,

But it isn't the right sollution for getting those related drivers based on the X38 chipset or 775 socket presentation of the mobo, even i couldn't found any spot combined with those real driver insertions.
However after some feedback from another tweaking board they deliver me a fine link to:

Intel X38 | Catalog - X-DRIVERS.COM: eXtremly full software portal

      Intel Chipset Device Software v.9.1.0.1007

But my next question is, are those X38 and EX38 related as the same chipset or could we better leave it alone?

Re: GigaByte GA-EX38 DQ6 Chipset Driver

It is the same, Ex38 and X38. The E is just a Gigabyte Energy Saving Feature, nothing to do with the chipset.

Not sure what you meant in your first paragraph. The links I gave are the correct, most up to date Intel Chipset drivers at the time. They are a Universal package for all Intel Chipsets and 35/64 bit systems

ya, if you find a newer one then it is fine to use, but be careful of where you get such things as some places may install spyware in packages. I do see there is a newer one now, so you are good to install that one if you want.

Here is a good site for you to bookmark, has Chipset, SATA, RealTek (All), And BIOS's all in one for Gigabyte >>>
Station-Drivers: le site de drivers, bios, firmwares, ect...

        Chipset
        intel drivers pour chipsets

        RAID/SATA
        intel drivers pour Raid/Sata/Ata/Ahci

        BIOS
        Bios Gigabyte

        RealTek
        Realtek drivers

J.Micron (For Gigabyte Boards with Gigabyte/J.Micron SATAII Purple Ports) >>>
