    Re: MA78GM-S2H and eSata box

You may have to use it USB mode only, some external devices when using eSATA have their own controller and that messes things up with two being used.

When you do connect it to eSATA have you tried ports 2-3 and (5 and 6 actual on the far side of the board)4-5 as well?

I don't understant what do you mean.
My motherboard have 5 internal Sata and 1 external eSata ports.
      Name of connectors:
Sata 0-4 - internal - on the board
      Sata 5 - external eSata
Normal I use Sata 0 - HDD and Sata 4 - DVD. If I connect eSata, HDD and DVD work normal.
Tomorrow a will take the box to the shop and they try it in their computers.

            Re: MA78GM-S2H and eSata box

Ok, then you already have things connected to the ports I meant, however you should use this for your BIOS setting then >>>

            Sata4/5..... IDE

Then your DVD player and your ESATA should work normally

              Re: MA78GM-S2H and eSata box

              My problem is finish.
Yesterday I was in the shop, where I buy the box and the service guy connect this box with other cable to his PC - eSata->Sata, he haven't eSata in PC. The box correctly works. The guy give me some another cable and reductions.
At the home I find the problem. The cable Box-PC is wrong-no in connection, but the connectors on the ends of cable are short ! - I compare the other cable what use the guy from shop.
I take to parts my box and PC - without I/O shield .... - the box works corretly !!
I lost four days of my life, because the calble(twoo cables) from China is(are) s..t

              thank you Lsdmeasap :)

                  Re: MA78GM-S2H and eSata box

First step is find the problem ;-) Second fix the problem.
Today I give back the bad cable and exchange to new.
Without the I/O is only for test.

Tomorrow I buy a new cable with longer connectors and everythink work corretly.
                      I am hapy :)
Only for information - first must power on-wait to start the disk and then connect the eSata cable, If you power on with connect the cable, system is unstable-tests on two motherboards

Glad to see you got it working. Yes, many External items do cause instability when left plugged in.

Nice to hear you have it working now!
