  • GA-EP45_DS3R New Mushkin memory

    Hi
Got the new memory in today and set the bios up for 4-4-4-12 2.0 volts.I set the bios up the same way you sent me just above on your last bios post for 2 gb of mem, anymore settings to change?. Having problems with browsers. Mine are shutting down on unexpected errors constantly. I've loaded Firefox twice to make sure no problems Any Ideas on what it could be? Gonna stay 32 bit for a while until I get the bugs straightened out. When I'm sure its stable I'm gonna go 64. Been fooling around with this thing all day and this muskin memory seems to run pretty good. Just need help to clock the 2-2gb sticks.

Thanks again for the 50th time
These are my settings as of right now.The memory is awsome the system works pretty good most of the time except out of the blue Firefox shuts down with unexpected errors and ie 7 sometimes gets a little slow other than that all is good. No more dreaded blue screens of death.

Which model of mushkins did you get, Sorry I forgot as i have been speaking with a few people this week about new mushkins.

IE Sucks, if you use firefox why do you still use IE? Just wondering......

          Howdy
I got the exact same mushkin as you did earlier this week (You got rebate I didn't) the black extreme 2x2 gb.I was using ie7 because firefox is shutting down on me sometimes right in the middle of posting threads I agree ie7 sucks I always used netscape before Firefox was developed. I'm not using the latest bios posted on web sight I'm running f-7 should I go to f-10?

Ohh yeah, See I thought maybe you did but just wanted to be sure

I would go to F9 or F10. I personally am about to go back to F9 as F10 has the S3 fix which I dont use and I think I liked F9 better then F10. And Older F7 is why you do not see driving strength profiles. There is MANY Changes in F9 and 10 you will like them, it is laid out nicer, with the advanced ram timings on a new page as well.

You can use these settings for that ram at 800 Mhz, and you may want to be thinking about running 333 FSb at least so you can use the 333 latch and 2.4 ram multi >>>>

              Re: GA-EP45_DS3R New Mushkin memory

changing the bios to F9 sounds good to me also. I also do not use sleep. I usually hibernate or shut down all together. After I upgrade the bios I'll let ya know what happens. I was wrong earlier my bios are f6 for the vga fix not f7 as previously stated.

              Thanks again

Ya, then F9 or F10 would be good. F6 is pretty old, you will see plenty of new things in the new BIOS for sure.

Good luck, and remember to flash properly and safely

Ok I flashed to the f-9 bios, you're right looks a little different than the original. I have everything set to where you told me in previous threads above.(This thing rocks)
I set the driving strength to 800 but what is 333 fsb I don't see that setting in here.can you explain to me a little more so I can get a better understanding? Any more changes need to be made at this time?

                  Thanks

                    Re: GA-EP45_DS3R New Mushkin memory

333 FSB is your CPU freq, which your default value is 266 for a Q6600.

The exact BIOS wording should be as follows >>>
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) ............: 333Mhz

Ya, P45 seems to be superb, especially with some Nice ram!

As for other changes, Well I would really need to know what all you already have set from the past settings I provided. And what you are exactly using now, vs where you want to be
