ep43 ds3l 2x1 2GB strange 3rd and 4th dimm slot

  • ep43 ds3l 2x1 2GB strange 3rd and 4th dimm slot

    just bought gigabyte ds3l ep43 firmware revision f8

    memory runs with errors in slot 3 and/or 4 at stock settings
    it will run without errors in 3 and/or 4 if i set down to 800mhz

    it will work without errors in 1 and/or 2 at stock settings which is 1066

    when i say slot # and/or slot # i mean 1 stick or 2

    i put performance enhance to standard but it made no difference

    why can't i run this in the 3rd or 4th slot at stock settings but i can in 1st or 2nd slot? it stops me from doing dual channel unless i set it down to 800mhz i suppose.

    any insight? i would like to run dual channel.

    Are you using the latest memtest86+ 2.01 >>>

    If not, you need to for P34/45

    And you may need some adjustments is all settings wise I mean. Maybe you need some skew to adjust the offset to those sticks

    Post me what you have now for 1066 and I will see If I can advise you on things to try >>>>

      if i change system memory multiplier to 2.40b i can run 800mhz and my slots 3 and 4 become usable so i can go dual channel.

      i was using a old version of memtest but i got the new version and the results are no different.

        i thought i had read something from your previous posts change mch. so i changed it to 1.2 didn't make a difference. i tried dram voltage at 2.2 no difference. i also tried ich i/o at 1.65 with no difference

          You do need to add some MCH for sure, and I see a few things you need to change as well.

          Work on getting this to run in dual channel, try 1+3 and then if no luck try 2+4, sounds like you could have a bad set of slots possibly if things do not get working after severals attempts at getting the correct settings in there. It will take you a minute, so dont expect a quick change over from Auto.

          Or, you could settle on using it at 800Mhz, with way tighter timings, up to you on what you do decide to do >>>
