Hmm... I tried your config however it still won't even post. I tried all sorts of variations and the highest multipler it will go is 419. I can get the system fully stable with a fsb of 419 but it can't post at anything higher... Would having better ram help with a rating of 1066? Any other configs I should try?

      Thanks for the response:)

        Re: Can't Overclock q9450 Past 3.32 w/ EP43-DS3L

Did you set twr and twtr to 12 and 14 first and then the rest?

What was the highest voltage for your CPU you tried? At those loose timings it should for sure do 900-950 at least. Faster ram would not be my worry

What is the voltage written on the sticker, you may need 2.1V

Did you try 333 MCH latch? How hot is your CPU cores at 419 FSB?

So, what is your full settings now at 419 FSB

          Re: Can't Overclock q9450 Past 3.32 w/ EP43-DS3L

Yes, I kept twr and twtr at 12 and 14 respectfully when changing the other timings.

The highest voltage I have tried has been 1.4 however still no luck.

Further, I don't believe the ram is the problem as I can run the ram with a MCH latch of 333 = 1066mhz @ 419 fsb stable.

Heat is not the problem either as with 419 fsb, the CPU doesn't go higher than 50C.

A neat fact is that I can set all bios settings to "auto" and set the fsb at 419 and the system will still post. However, if I try and crank that fsb up one, all hell breaks loose and the system won't post for anything. Also, the system only cycles once - it tries to boot up, shuts down then reloads with the default settings.

I tried downgrading the bios to f7 but still the same problem. Any ideas?

          Thanks

            One more thing...

The ram is rated @ 1.80v stock.

Not sure if this is the problem but some Q9450 and motherbaord have what i was told to be FSB hole i ran in to this problem with a old evga 750i MB that i had it was fixxed with bios update try going up to 425/[email protected] would not go higher than that and see if that helps. The Q9450 is a great OC chip to around 3.6 or so you should be able to get more out of it than u are.

With that board and a good cooler you should be able to get at least 440MHz FSB... try putting the FSB to 435MHz with your vcore around 1.370-1.385V, also crank the MCH and push the CPU termination up to at least 1.3V

Try using MCH latch 400, only change this by itself after changing trd to 8 or 9

Please post full settings of where you are as of now. 1.8V ram is not very good, I would push that to 2.0 or return it for better ram, this is likely your issue. 1.8V ram is budget and likely not able to go much past standard clocks
