GA-EP45-DS3L problems with GSkill f2-8500cl5d-4gbpk (2x2gb)

So i put this ram into my ep45-ds3l and i bumped into the most unstable system i've seen. Now, i sent the ram back, since the Memtest 86 gave errors unless i tried the sticks separately. My retailer RMAed, and said the ram workerd fine.

Which only leaves the option of a wrong bios config. If anyone can give me a hand to propperly configure this ram in my bios i'd really appreciate it.

The only thing i changed was the timings to 5-5-5-15 and voltage to 2.1 since its the info supplied in the ram's box and stickers. Thing is, apparently that's not enough.

Yes, it likely did. Works well in your board as well

2x2 or more needs several things manually adjusted in the BIOS.

You need to set trfc to 52-62, set MCH Voltage to 1.2-1.3, and possibly some other things as well depending on what else you have set.

Well i just got back my sticks, installed them and changed the settings you told me, gonna try out the stability to see if this does the trick ^,^

Seems im not there yet. Still getting blue screens when i run programs like games or Photoshop or 3ds max.

Before you get to using programs and such please get your ram going so you dont get so frustrated. Use Memtes86+ and test until you dont get errors.

For now try this, these are loose and should pass memtest, then lower slowly as suggested in Parentheses >>>>

Okay i just finished changing everything you suggested in your last post and started the memtest. Would you say 1 pass is enough? I used to get errors on every single pass before, so i think 1 pass is enough.

Anyways, whats the benefit of lowering things if i get a pass like this? Are there any major performance differences by lowering the advanced timings?

Well not really, you should let it run overnight when you have time to be sure. But if you are in a hurry you can test your games and Apps to see if you still get BSOD's now

Yes, lower timings are much better, especially Static Tread, twr, twtr, and trrd

Memtest showed 2 errors in slot 0 at 15% and froze. ON the second test i run it froze at 15% again but without showing any errors.

Please post your exact settings So I can have a look. You may in the mean time want to test if the same occurs in slot 2+4 to be sure it is a ram setting and not just a problem with your slot 1+3

Well after the last changes you told me to do it got worse than before, started freezing after few minutes of running memtest or the OS. So i decided to go crazy and lower the MCH core voltage to 1.050 as two other users in a different thread said it solved the freeze problem for them. IT WORKED.

So im cool now. If anyone has the same problem y suggest lowering the MCH core volt.

Glad you found it! I am going to have to look into this lower MCH myself.

Maybe the stock setting is way more then it should be, that could explain things?
