Re: Help with OC q9450 on P45 DS3R
I would suggest you test these changes and use memtest86+ to test the ram as you tweak it Because Auto for all of that is for sure not the best and likely is causing you issues as well>>>>

Re: Help with OC q9450 on P45 DS3R
Well any core stopping right away is for sure CPU related and normally voltages. What do you get in windows in CPU-z for idle voltage out of that 1.4 set in the BIOS? Could need less as well which is likely, so I just wondered what you get in windows
I tossed in some memory suggestions, but they are not the issue you are having it is cpu volt related. As for memory you may also want to set Driving strength profile to 800 or 1066

Re: Help with OC q9450 on P45 DS3R
Did you try the lower Voltages I suggested above? Is that 1.9V spec ram? You may want to try 2.0, but like I said I really think it is a CPU or NB related voltage issue
Have you tried less Vcore yet? Sometimes too much can cause a quick error as well
May also want to try this instead of above suggestion >>>
CPU Clock Skew (ps)....................: <<< 100 << Try 150
MCH Clock Skew (ps)...................: <<< 200 << Try 250
What is the temp before the error, or is it to quick to even get hot? Just to be sure which I doubt this is the issue, is your ram memtest86+ stable at those settings you were/are trying?

Re: Help with OC q9450 on P45 DS3R
I tried the followings:
1. Set CPU Termination between 1.34-1.36: 2 cores went down as soon as I started prime
2. Set MCH Core between 1.2-1.25: Windows boots up and then shuts down by itself after a few minutes
3. Set tRead value for channels A and B to 8: Get bios error. The board resets itself to default settings
4. Set tRRD=3; tWTR=4; tWR=8; tRFC=52: Windows would not boot
Memtest86+ is stable. The 2 cores went down right away so it was too quick for the temp to get hot.
What do all these behaviors mean?

Re: Help with OC q9450 on P45 DS3R
I have different board Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 W/Q9450 1.34 volts is high for that CPU Intel say 1.3625 is MAX.I have [email protected] volts cpu-z load 1.20 You will get post restarts whith to much power .The way i got system stabel was CPU first ram auto or stock till you get CPU 100%.Then went and tweeked system. If your board keeps in line with other Gigabyte board low voltage seems to be better.Boards like ASUS need 1.36-1.40+ to get same overclock speeds.sigpic

Re: Help with OC q9450 on P45 DS3R
Have you tried driving strength profile 1066? So again, it boots at AUTO for the memory and manual, but just fails Orthos/prime right? And passes memtest86+ right, for how long did you test?
Can you please again post your full settings tried, you may need to adjust some Of your other voltages

Re: Help with OC q9450 on P45 DS3R
Yes, I set the drive strength to 1066 and prime failed right away on 2 cores
I ran test #5 on memtest86+ for 5 passes and got no error. Is that the correct way to run memtest86+?
Before posting my latest BIOS settings, I'd like to try some of your suggestions again. What would be the right order for changing the values in the BIOS?
1. Start with the suggested BIOS settings as in post #2 then
2. Try various values for voltages then
3. Try various values in advance clock control then
4. Try various values in advance timing control

After 3 hours of running prime, one core stopped. When I set the drive strength profile to 1066, one core stopped after running prime for 15 minutes.
What does it point to when one or two cores stop after running prime for a few hours or it could be any settings in the BIOS?
