  • BIOS Stability with EP45DS3R and F9

Ok...ever since I switched to BIOS F9 on my EP45-DS3R I get periodic failed boots and, as of yesterday, a few freezes within Windows. I didn't change anything and this never happened before. I'm just curious if anyone else has had stability problems with F9 (I never had any issues with F8). How is the beta of F10 working out for people? I'm trying to wait until it goes to final, but if it is working well I might try now, or else go back to F8. Any suggestions?

Hey mate! I had freezes like that after i added 8 GB to my setup. Adding some minor voltage to MCH Core and the RAM voltage solved it right away. If your MCH Core is 1.1 make it 1.2 and see if that fix it. What setup you have, what ram? When you flashed to F9 did you loaded the Optimal Settings right away?

F8 and F9 and now F10g works good for me, i always start with loose settings and slowly tight them up.

I also have 8GB of RAM but if I have anything besides "Auto" for MCH Core it won't boot...go figure. I've even tried very higher MCH settings (up to 1.4V) and still nothing. I did do the Optimal settings before manually configuring and everything worked fine until F9. I downloaded F10g so maybe I'll try that.

If F10 beta does not help and it was me, I would go back. BIOS's are a "find one you like and keep it" type of thing. Unless of course you see one that may address something you specifically are interested in

You are manually setting the ram voltage as well as MCH right? And adding/setting trfc high enough for 8GB?

Yes...I used memtest and found that to get it to pass I had to set it at 2.18V in the BIOS...which translates to 2.14V actual (Vdrop) and a little less under load (Vdroop). I'll sit tight for now and when F10 is no longer a beta I'll try it then. If it doesn't fix it...then I'll do what you advise and go back to F8.

F10 is posted, have you tried it? If so where are you at as of now with this?
