  • ep45-ds3r bsod/reboot loop

hi everyone. Put this together last night and got it running today. Sort of. Having major problems.

I had originally put together a couple days ago, flashed from F7-F9 and got stuck on a constant reboot loop after bios screen. Was unable to use kb or anything so I returned the mobo for the same model. I had a clean install of windows and the mobo drivers from
    the cd.

Hooked everything up again and began updating windows when the bsods began. Removed 1 stick of ram and still having bsods. Checked online and my ram isn't on the supported list. Don't know where to go from here.

    Specs:

    E8500
    Ep45-ds3r
    2x2gb pioneer 1066
    geforce 8800gt

On the advice of a friend I was going to reformat and reinstall windows but when the boot from cd portion pops up I lose in control. No response until windows loads and the bsod hits. That or a hard lockup. I'm using XP home edition.

Well A clean install would not help, It is a BIOS settings problem or that ram is just not compatible. Please post a image for me of the SPD tab of CPU-z so I can see the voltage needed for that ram >>>
    CPUID

You should also memtest86+ each stick by itself to be sure that both are ok >>>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Please post your settings for me from the MIT section of your BIOS with BOTH sticks installed, 2x2GB for sure needs some MCH voltage added, trfc of 52-62 and manually set Ram voltage.

For testing, please put only one stick of ram in slot one. Your system will likely also run better like this until I get some settings posted back for you..... Unless that ram is not compatible, which very well could be the case

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

      Re: ep45-ds3r bsod/reboot loop

thank you for response. I'll get that info written down but was wondering; I don't have access to another computer and mine is rebooting so quickly, posting the info will be rough from my phone.

Do you recommend buying other ram? And if so what brand/speed? I'm new to building and working on computers and want to do this right.

You will likely have less issues with one stick in there, but yes better ram would help. But like I said you may just need some adjustments. So try with one stick in slot one, post me the BIOS settings, and the CPU-z image if you can
