          Whoops!

It is a classic case of me not reading properly before posting, err!

          Sorry Lsdmeasap

I sent a pm to Mr. Tweak. It is in regards with some networking problems I am having accessing the forums with OnSpeed enabled.

What is the issue? Is too many connections at once causing errors?

If so, and you use firefox I can show you how to set a lower limit and still use that app

Of course, if he does not reply soon to you

              Hello again Lsdmeasap

Everything was working fine when accessing TT Forums, until about last week.

With OnSpeed enabled, I get the following message when trying to access a TT Forum:

Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here

I contacted OnSpeed, and they suggested I change the proxy server to helium.onspeed.com or directional.onspeed.com or scandium.onspeed.com. Each one would work for a day or two, and then I would get the message again.

The only other option is to add forums.tweaktown.com to the OnSpeed proxy exclusion list, which means the site will not be accelerated anymore.

Yup, I am using FireFox :-)

                Re: OT: Contacting Admin

Well I assume you may get IP banned for too many connections all day, it would look like a DDOS attack. So it could be manually banned by a mod or done Automatically by the forum software or server side software.

If you want to try again with a new proxy, but limit the connections you can do so in firefox. And you should be able to in that app really in some options in there... I have never used it but it should be a option to set the max connections.

Are you on dial up? If not, there would be no need for you to speed up this site really so leaving it out of your list would not slow you down much.

To see/set your max connections in firefox open a blank tab and type the following >>
                about:config

Then look for and lower the following so they are not so high and get you blocked. You may need to try all of these to find a good setting that dont get you blocked, or just lower them all to a reasonable #>>>

Change these settings first - no matter what (common to all configurations):

                Code:
                network.http.pipelining, true
                network.http.proxy.pipelining, true
                network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, 8
                content.notify.backoffcount, 5
                plugin.expose_full_path, true
                ui.submenuDelay, 0

Change these settings if you have a fast computer, fast connection:

                Code:
                content.interrupt.parsing, true
                content.max.tokenizing.time, 2250000
                content.notify.interval, 750000
                content.notify.ontimer, true
                content.switch.threshold, 750000
                nglayout.initialpaint.delay, 0
                network.http.max-connections, 48
                network.http.max-connections-per-server, 16
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy, 16
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server, 8
                browser.cache.memory.capacity, 65536

Change these settings if you have a fast computer, slower connection:

                Code:
                content.max.tokenizing.time, 2250000
                content.notify.interval, 750000
                content.notify.ontimer, true
                content.switch.threshold, 750000
                network.http.max-connections, 48
                network.http.max-connections-per-server, 16
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy, 16
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server, 8
                nglayout.initialpaint.delay, 0
                browser.cache.memory.capacity, 65536

Change these settings if you have a fast computer, slow internet connection:

                Code:
                browser.xul.error_pages.enabled, true
                content.interrupt.parsing, true
                content.max.tokenizing.time, 3000000
                content.maxtextrun, 8191
                content.notify.interval, 750000
                content.notify.ontimer, true
                content.switch.threshold, 750000
                network.http.max-connections, 32
                network.http.max-connections-per-server, 8
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy, 8
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server, 4
                nglayout.initialpaint.delay, 0
                browser.cache.memory.capacity, 65536

Change these settings if you have a slow computer, fast internet connection:

                Code:
                content.max.tokenizing.time, 3000000
                content.notify.backoffcount, 5
                content.notify.interval, 1000000
                content.notify.ontimer, true
                content.switch.threshold, 1000000
                content.maxtextrun, 4095
                nglayout.initialpaint.delay, 1000
                network.http.max-connections, 48
                network.http.max-connections-per-server, 16
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy, 16
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server, 8
                dom.disable_window_status_change, true

Change these settings if you have a slow computer, slow connection:

                Code:
                content.max.tokenizing.time, 2250000
                content.notify.interval, 750000
                content.notify.ontimer, true
                content.switch.threshold, 750000
                nglayout.initialpaint.delay, 750
                network.http.max-connections, 32
                network.http.max-connections-per-server, 8
                network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy, 4
                dom.disable_window_status_change, true
Also if you use fasterfox, what are you using as settings? I dont get blocked ever but I am on a VERY Dynamic IP and I have mine set on Turbo Charged... Which in my mind and server I would block me from connecting. So as I say below, your # of connections may not be the problem but just a problem with your Program using widely used Dynamic IP's and maybe some spammers use the same ones often so you get blocked out by a range block

And yes, I would hope A admin would contact you, incase none of what I mentioned is the case at all

                  *NOTE*

Those values above are for increasing speeds, you would want to use lower network max connection values, the rest would be fine to set as high as your computer choice of those plans would be. The network parts is all you need low
