  • No boot after bios update

First off I'm sorry for the read!

I was having cpu voltage issues with my 2week old ep35-ds3l board and Ive read that the beta bios ver f5c fixes that so i used the @bios in the etc program that came with my board to install it. after the install it wouldn't boot it would run for 2 seconds then shut down then do it again so i flipped the power switch on the back of power supply and turn the power off, i waited for a few seconds then turned it back on well it work but it took a hole 3 min just to get the the windows xp loading screen, at that point i was like this is stupid, i went ahead and checked the voltage in realtemp it read 1.0625 like it always has before on my E7200, i restarted it and run the voltage up to 1.2 just to see if could change it saved exited waited 3 min for the windows load screen to pop up, once i got into windows loaded realtemp again and still stuck at 1.0625 %&^%#$!!. I then said id rather have it load faster than beable to overclock so i used the same ect @bios program and selected internet update and it popped up with 1 choice of bios update something like F13L so i clicked it since it was my only choice! well big mistake! installed it fine restarted and does the same thing it did with F5c but now no matter what i do i cant get it to boot. I'm pretty sure that was the wrong bios it told me to install!

sorry for the rant, is there any thing i can do or am i going to have to return it?

Re: No boot after bios update

Can you get into the BIOS at all? @BIOS is not a good thing to use as you now know.

Can you get into Qflash? It is started by hitting the END key at the same time you would normally hit the Delete key to enter the BIOS. If you can get in there I would suggest you download the latest NON beta BIOS for your board from here and put it on a floppy or a freshly formatted Fat32 USB stick (Leave or put this in then reboot and go into Qflash) Your USB stick will or may look like a hard drive in qflash, just look thru each choice presented to you until you find the BIOS file.
    GIGABYTE - Support - Motherboard - BIOS - GA-EP35-DS3L

Yes F13l would definitely NOT be for your board now that I see your BIOS lists

You only need to put the file that is the actual BIOS file onto the floppy/USB stick, it is the file named as follows >> Ga_Ep35_XX.F10 <<< Example file will be in that similar format

If you cannot get into Qflash you can try to clear the CMOS bu unplugging your PSU from the wall and then put a hard drive/optical jumper on the Clear CMOS pins. and let it sit for 10 minutes or so, then see if it will start or see if you can get to Qflash again

Dont use @BIOS ever anymore as you know

If all fails and you DO have a floppy you can try to blind flash a new BIOS in, but you MUST have or get a floppy >>>
Award 6.0 BIOS - BootBlock Recovery

If you do somehow get a new BIOS flashed in, or you may be able to now if F13 failed and you reverted back to F5c, go into the BIOS and load optimized defaults, then save and apply and reboot. THEN make any changes you normally would. Always do this after ANY flash

Re: No boot after bios update

ya i will never use @bios again. I tried all of you suggestion an i still get nothing. it will only run for latterly 1 second from the time i hit the start button to the time it shuts down and then repeats. it doesn't respond to any thing,to shut the stupid cycle of restarts down i have to flip the power switch in the back cause the power button on the front doesn't work :(. nothing appears on the screen, my screens light is green when it gets a signal but yellow when there is nothing, well it stays yellow the hole time. I'm just so pis#$^, this is my first build i don't have alot of $$ and i just wonted every thing to work but no my stupid processor doesn't read temps right so i cant overclock anything then the da#$ motherboard wont let me change my cpu voltage grrrr!.

Re: No boot after bios update

Well if you can get no where with the above suggestions you will need to RMA. As for your new board when you get it, use realtemp to see valid Core temps. It is very good and widely used now with 45nm cpu's >>>

well got a new board at no cost to me (tnx newegg!) but i still have the damn voltage issue !$!@$!@$. the only reason for building this pc was to over clock it and i cant!

ya i dont feel comfortable putting in those numbers 1. if i enter them and it fugs up my computer im SOL and you get a laugh. 2 i dont wont to run my voltage up to 1.30volts on the stock cooler just in case it does take and burns up my processor.

Re: No boot after bios update

The stock cooler is rated along with the CPU to max at 1.365 so you will be fine. Especially just for a short test to see if the volts hold or not

I would not laugh, and Intel would ship you a new CPU within a week anyway. I have not seen a fried processor in years. I have put mine at 1.4+ on air and mine is the same as your minus the cache.

Ok, well try what I suggested with 1.25-1.275 It will likely work anyway, I see many getting 3.4-3.6 on stock voltages especially with the low VID like you have

If no luck, I will suggest a lower jump for you.

Here is the settings again, with adjusted timing for 2x1 GB. You SURE you have those sticks? I aks because of your AUTO settings giving you 52 on Refresh to act. If you DO indeed have 2x1 then cool, use the below settings>>>
