Please help me! I'm confused! There are too many choices when purchasing Memory for my computer!

I want to upgrade the memory in my ABS Computer-Model Ultimate 5^64. I have three memory banks. Presently installed are two Corsair 256 MB modules, a total of 512 MB with one empty bank. I would love to max out the memory to 3GB, but I'm not sure I can afford it right now.

Is it true that I should purchase memory in matched pairs, or is that just a sales pitch? I'm thinking of buying two "sticks" of memory of 1GB each, depending on the price, of course.

At the time I purchased my PC, it was considered to be a "high-end gamer-type" pc. Does that mean I should purchase "more expensive" or "better" rather than "value-priced" memory?

Please help me decide on some guidelines to use to purchase memory.

Value Memory would be fine, "better" types are for overclocking. And yes, you should always buy in pairs, as each brand or model will have different speeds and timings. Memory should be installed in pairs to enable dual channel as well

Value Memory is ok, i use Value Memory too.
