  • P35-DS3L + Wintec DDR2 1066

I have some issues with my new system. I'm very new in overclocking and have a poor english!!

    P35-DS3L BIOS F8b
    Core2duo E8400 stock (3.00ghz)
    4 x Wintec AMP-X 1GB DDR2-1066 2.2v (2x Dual Channel Kits)

If I use the recommended timmings (5-5-5-15) at 3.2 multiplier (Auto) and manually adjust voltage to 2.2v (+.7v) I get lot of errors in memtest86+ test #5. In this setting I could boot and get 7.5gb/s in Everest memory read... but it hangs FSX, WinRAR, Crysis and more...

If I use 5-5-5-16 at 2.4 (DDR2-800) and 1.8v (Auto) no errors at all, but very bad troughput (6.5gb/s Everest memory read). My older Athlon X2 with DDR2-533 Kingston was at >7gb/s.......

And for last... running at 5-5-5-16 at 2.4x and 2.2v (+.7v) it runs stable but the memory sticks gets VERY VERY HOT. And the memory troughput is the same as 1.8v.

I also tried MCH +0.1v and no changes.....

I'm very dissapointed on spending money on DDR1066 without any results!!!

Anyone knows how to properly setup my mobo to take advantage of the memory???

    Thanks a LOT!!!!

First of all, 2.2V for ram is +.4

    The default is 1.8 + .4 = 2.2

Try that and yeah I would add +.1 or 1.5 or so to MCH, and .+1 to FSB maybe as well

Your're right... +.4v is 2.2v... but in my mobo I only get 2.2v with the +.7v... what can I do with heat? it is normal? I can put a fan in the north bridge. But the ddr sticks also get very hot. I'm afraid of burning something!!

        Re: P35-DS3L + Wintec DDR2 1066

+.7 is WAY TO MUCH Volts

I am sure that +.7 is no where near 2.2, it would be 2.2.5 or probably closer to 2.6 and WILL fry your ram in no time at all. I am sure probably whatever you are using to show you RAM voltages is just telling you wrong information is all

Have you installed a newer BIOS then your board came with yet?

I'm measuring it with BIOS readings and Everest 4.20, I'm getting 2.22 / 2.25 maximum. If I use +.4v I get 2.00v on both BIOS and Everest (and plentifull of Memtest errors and crashes).........

Well 2.2 is what you want, that is the rams specified voltages. You probably just have some other settings to tight. Or the RAM is bad, Copy me your settings you are using
